is there a way to like,, read the narrative of blaseball? everything i've seen about it always seems so sick but I know the games been over for years now & I have no idea how to interact with it
Sorta!
I, personally, believe that the best way to hear about or learn about blaseball is by listening to other people talk about it. Theres a big aspect of it that was like. It built bigger and bigger the more people talked about it. Word of mouth was Vital. And the best way to truly Get It, to me — the best way to Get It and CARE about it — is to join a community and listen to people reminisce
But theres also a lot of other ways too!
The blaseball wiki is a phenomenal resource, as is sibr.dev (sibr being the society of international blaseball research, of course). Both were HUGE community efforts back in the day, and through the hard work of many people, we’ve got good resources of both the lore people made as well as resources that allow people to bring up and rewatch blaseball games in their entirety! If you wanted to watch the hades tigers play the new york millennials on day 110 of season 3, you can do that! And that’s really cool!
Another shoutout to the wiki because its both an excellent source of in game events and also the home of So Much Creativity. The only canon events in blaseball are the random numbers that translate into games; as such there’s a big “two cakes” culture where many different people have different takes on the same character, and thats okay! Its all blaseball, babey. But it means that youre gonna find some Really Fucking Cool Stuff in that wiki Read this rumor mill entry. Seriously, read it. Its a personal favorite of mine. Now read this rumor mill entry. It’s also a favorite but for a completely different reason. Such are the epic highs and lows of internet league blaseball.
Then, of course, theres the blaseball roundup, which will give you a summary of the discipline era (seasons 1-11) made by the developers of blaseball with the intent of welcoming in new viewers and catching them up to speed in preparation for the expansion era (seasons 12-24), and which also provides quick recaps on each subsequent season!
The Garages’ bandcamp is another great way to get into blaseball! Its music! Its cool! Its largely about the Seattle Garages and very much is blaseball from the lens of garages fans, but a Lot of people got into blaseball through the garages, and they did so for good reason! I still feel some type of way listening to some of those songs!
The blaseball ao3 tag also has some absolutely fucking Phenomenal fics. Find a team to care about; find some players you like; start digging. Ive read fics for characters id previously never thought twice about and felt shrimp emotions about em afterwards. Gloria Bugsnax, i miss you every day.
But ! Theres communities still out there thatre alive and well. Talk to people who were there! Talk to people from different teams! Rewatch a game on sibr, check out the wiki, listen to some music, read some fic. Blaseball may be over, but it is alive in our hearts 💖 never look back babeyyyyy
