For Space Exploration Day we wanted to take a more whimsical look at the future of the past. Mattel debuted the Major Matt Mason Space Bubble in the late 1960s, riding a wave of interest in space exploration generated by the space race between the USSR and the United States to be the first to land a man on the moon. Mattel based early vehicles and suits in the Major Matt Mason line on NASA prototype, but the Space Bubble seems a little too cool to have been based on a design NASA ever seriously considered.

my little brother and his space bubble
the super expensive school that my brother (and formerly me) goes to has actually tought him something woop woop /j
**applause**
nah the school is actually really nice though i might be biased cause i basically grew up there
so my brother is 8 years old and we play fight a lot and so far we only have like 3 permanent scars each :D
at his school they have this whole guidance class thing, where the school counselor comes into class once a week and they talk about different topics, depending on your grade.
for example i remember we did this "experiment" in 1st grade where we had to see how many people would smile if we complimented them and the lesson was like "sometimes people are sad but if you are nice to them and compliment them they can feel happy" great lesson btw thank you ms g
so my brother comes home one day and i start tickling him (he is so ticklish istg EVEN HIS HANDS) and hes laughing a lot and then suddenly he puts his hands together and creates a sort of egg?? shape???? and shouts "IVE ACTIVATED MY SPACE BUBBLE STEP AWAY" AND IM SO CONFUSED
so i put him down and step away and im asking him what the fuck is a space bubble (w/o the profanity ofc) and he tells me that if he makes a space bubble im not allowed to touch him and i have to be at least 50 cm away from him
apparently the counselor at school tought everyone this whiCH IS ACTUALLY GENIUS LITTLE KIDS WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING
SORRY IF I OFFEND ANYONE BUT JUST IMAGINE
a little kid playing at the park and this random guy with a black mask is trying to kidnap the kid so the kids like IVE ACTIVATED MY SPACE BUBBLE
man im sorry i tried to kidnap you i didnt know you had your space bubble activated
IM SO SORRY THIS WAS A JOKE FOR LEGAL REASONS
but in all seriousness i think this is actually such a great thing cause respecting peoples personal space is so important and im really glad my little brother recognizes that at such a young age :DDDD
now if only this worked with other teenagers.......
rn him and i are discussing the physical capabilities of a bubble like what happens if a bubble is created inside a bubble and MY GOD HE IS SO ADORABLE PLEASE
