A/N: Posted on A03 thought Tumblr might like to read it as well. Iāll update as often as iām able, but I do have a chronic illness that can take away my days. Goal is to have multiple parts posted in one week. I did try and tag all those who requested. Let me know if I missed any, or if you like to be tagged in future updates. Enjoy!
Letting out a long breath, you try to breathe through your anxiety. āItās just a run; just a run. You did this yesterday. You do this most days. So what itās through some wooded areas, and not a lot of people around.ā Shaking your limbs, you attempt to get past the rising anxiety. āJust a quick run through the city. I can do that.ā
āScrew it,ā you mutter, pushing yourself forward. Youāve been running for years. You always feel better, and life makes more sense after a good run. Today, you need that clarity now more than ever. Finding your pace, you'll be sure to keep one ear out for anything out of the ordinary.Ā
As you fell into the familiar rhythm, you let your mind wander. You promised Amelia youād back off from the Saja Boys. Honestly, itās not like you sought them out; they just sort of appeared in your life. Right when you need them, which honestly sounds crazy. Craziest part? That doesnāt freak you out. It should. You should be questioning them, avoiding them, but if you're honest with yourself, you like it. There hasnāt been a single person in your whole life who wanted to be around you, who chooses you above everyone else. Yeah, itās been aĀ little more than a day now, but itās been a good day. Should you slow down? Yes. Will you slow down? I donāt know. You think as footsteps sound behind you.Ā
Heart thrumming in your throat, world narrowing, you wait, hoping theyād just go past. When the footsteps begin to slow down enough to meet your pace, the air becomes thick in your lungs. Footsteps sound right behind you, and you whip around.Ā
āAhh,ā you shout, right leg already going to hit the person in the groin.Ā
āWhoa, Gorgeous.ā Abby smiled, catching your leg before it made contact.
āOh my god,ā you breathe rapidly. āI thought you wereā¦Oh my god. Iām so sorry.āĀ
āDonāt worry about it,ā Abby smiled, letting go of your leg. āI saw you out running and thought you might like company. I guess my idea to scare you wasnāt the best, huh?ā
āNo,ā you shake your head. āNot today, at least.ā
āIām sorry,ā he says apologetically. āBaby told us a little of what happened last night. Are you okay?ā
Of course, he told them, you think. āHe did, did he?ā
āYeah, you okay?ā Abby asks again.Ā
āYeah,ā you lie. āIāll be fine.ā
Abby looked at you as if he could read your mind, or at least your lie. āSince weāre here, want to run together?ā he asks, changing the topic much to your relief.Ā
You take a second to consider the request. You should decline and go about your run by yourself; however, having Abby here suddenly makes you feel worlds safer. Running alone can be dangerous, but running with a big, strong man, whose thick arms are on wondrous display in his tank top⦠shaking your head, you look down slightly embarrassed.Ā
āUm..ā you look up, seeing him patiently waiting for your answer. āAlright.ā
Abby smiled. āIāll match your pace.ā
āI run pretty fast.ā.Ā
āI bet I can keep up,ā he grinned wickedly.Ā
āAlright,ā you smile, getting back to your run.Ā
It felt nice, running with Abby. The pair of you find a new pace, and the world seems to right itself. Once again, one of the Saja Boys has shown up when you needed them, and once again, youāre relieved. Instead of worrying about someone coming up on you, you get lost in your run. In the repetitive routine, soothing your frayed nerves. After about half an hour, you start to slow down.Ā
āAre we done already?ā Abby smirked.Ā
āI wish I could go longer, but I have work. If I donāt turn around now, Iāll be late,ā you answer.
āHow about I give you a ride?ā Abby suggested.Ā
You know you should turn him down. Once again, that promise to Amelia flashes in your mind, and once again, you find yourself justifying breaking it. It is just a ride to work, and itās safer than taking the bus.Ā
āAre you sure? I donāt want to be a bother.ā You ask, running in place to keep warm.Ā Ā
āYouāre not a bother,ā Abby shook his head, smiling.Ā
āAlright then, thank you,ā you agree, starting to run back to your apartment.
After a few minutes of friendly silence, you finally work up the courage to ask a question thatās been plaguing you since your talk with Amelia last night. āYou know you guys are being too nice to me. I have to wonder why.ā
āWe just want to get to know you,ā Abby smiled at you.Ā
āWhy me?āĀ
āWhy not?ā
āIām no one special,ā you say, taking a few deep breaths.Ā
āI think you are,ā Abbyās voice deepened.Ā
āYou barely know me,ā you argue, coming to a stop under the shade of a tree.Ā
āWell, I know you play the violin; beautifully,ā he started. āI know you work as a hostess at Baek Ri Hyang. I know you care deeply for your friend. I know youāre strong and fight like hell.ā
āThatās not a lot,ā you argue, not realizing how close you two are standing.Ā
āI want to know everything about you,ā Abby whispered, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear.Ā
āBut why?ā you whispered back, placing a hand on his chest.Ā
āI can already see how amazing you are.ā He placed one hand on your cheek and neck.Ā
āI still donātā¦ā his lips on yours interrupt whatever you were about to say.Ā
Chills from head to toe, as his lips move against yours. Slowly, your hands wrap around his waist, as his hand tilts your head back slightly. His tongue licks your lips, and with a happy sigh, you open your mouth. His tongue slips into your mouth, slow and steady. The kiss continues until you need to pull back for air.Ā
āWow,ā you breathe, still in each otherās space.Ā
āI want to take you out,ā Abby smiles.Ā
āLike on a date?āĀ
āLike a date,ā Abby confirmed.Ā
āOkay,ā you grin. āIām free Tuesday.ā
āTuesday it is,ā he gives you a soft, chaste kiss on the lips.Ā
Later at work that day, you couldnāt keep the smile from your face. Yeah, you promised Amelia you would slow down, which lasted less than twelve hours, and most of those you spent asleep or alone in your apartment. Now youāve kissed Abby and have a date planned for Tuesday. At this point, youāre almost expecting either Jinu or Mystery to show up to give you a ride home.Ā
āYou look like you slept with a hanger in your mouth,ā your coworker says, as you fold silverware.Ā
āDo I?ā you laugh.Ā
āYes, so dish. Who is it?āĀ
āNo one,ā you shake your head. Youāre not ashamed of whatever relationship youāre building with seemingly an entire boy band, but until you have a better grip on whatever is happening, you want to keep the details to yourself.Ā
āOh, is it the boy who dropped you off yesterday? Or the one who dropped you off today?āĀ
āIām not saying,ā you repeat.Ā
āOh, come on, I won't tell,ā she begged.Ā
āNo.ā You finish up the silverware just as the ding of the front door pings. Walking up, you start your usual greeting. āWelcome to Baek Ri Hyang, how many for dinnerā¦Jinu, what are you doing here?āĀ
āIāve heard how good the food was, and want to check it out,ā he says with that soft smile that makes your stomach flip-flop and brain turn to mush.Ā Ā
āIs it just you?āĀ
āJust me.ā
āRight this way,ā you lead him to a nearby table. He canāt be here for you. Surely heās here just for the food. Right, and Abby was just out running, a voice sounds in your head.Ā
His hand touches your shoulder, turning you around. āJust a spot at the bar is perfect.ā
Ā āOkay,ā you smile under his gaze. āRight this way then.āĀ
Taking his spot, he ordered something to drink before turning his attention back to you, now folding napkins. You might have sat him closest to you, but youād never admit you did that on purpose.Ā
āSo whatās your favorite color?ā Jinu asks.Ā
āWhat?ā you ask through a small laugh.Ā
āWhatās your favorite color?ā he repeats, his soft smile never leaving his perfect face.Ā
āUm, purple. Why?āĀ
āPurple is the color of royalty,ā he says, not noticing the other servers and some cooks side-eyeing him from their work stations.
āI knew that,ā you nod. āWhatās your favorite color?ā
āBlue,ā he smiled.Ā
āAny particular shade or just blue?ā you ask.Ā
āSky blue. I can watch the sky for hours sometimes,ā Jinu says.Ā
āAs you play the Bipa?ā you ask.Ā
āSometimes,ā he admits.Ā Ā
āI still canāt get over how you know how to play that. Itās so cool.ā
āYou should come over, and Iāll play it for you,ā he says, reaching to take your hand where it rests on the bar.Ā
āIād love that,ā you whisper, as your boss calls your name, pulling you out of whatever trance Jinu had over you.Ā
āBe right back,ā you say, going to your boss.Ā
āI trust weāre not bothering our patrons?ā he whispered harshly to you.Ā
āNo, sir,ā you shake your head. āHeās a friend.ā
āWell, friend or not, letās not bother him,ā he whispered again. āNow get back to the front.ā
āYes, sir,ā you say, hurrying back to your spot right in front of the doors.Ā Ā
Picking up some stray papers and straightening the menus, you look up to see Jinu standing there smiling at you.Ā Ā Ā
āJinu, is anything wrong?ā you ask.Ā
āWhen are you off tonight? I want to drive you home.ā
āBaby told you about last night.ā You make a statement.Ā
Jinu nods. āI just want to make sure you make it home safely.ā
āAmelia is going to stop by after her shift and walk home with me,ā you say, even though a part of you so wanted him to take you home; a large part.Ā
āI can take you both home,ā he suggested, even as you saw some disappointment flare up behind his eyes.Ā
āAre you sure?ā you ask, biting your lip. āI donāt want to be a bother.ā
āYouāre not a bother, Princess.ā
Another nickname, you think back to the others youāve been given. Each is unique, yet appropriate to each boy.Ā
āOkay, then. Iād love a ride home, but Iām not off until 8.āĀ
āThen Iāll see you at eight.ā He leaned forward, kissing your cheek, sending a warm tingling sensation down to your toes.Ā
