1, Raph loves making clothes and his brothers were like 'sure dude, of course we will wear your lovely gift to us tysm'

2, they are built sturdier so they can withstand battle - Raph worked with donnie to create one to help attach shell protection armor to his to cover it - but thus begs the question, aren't through turtles (except for donnie) pretty well armored naturally? Why clothes?

The answer to that issss...

They feel like it. In the LG universe it's a bit more of a set thing that clothes are something you should wear, due to years and years of the yokai and humans living together for so long or whatever. They adopted human's concepts of 'you should wear clothes' a bit more over the ages. Its not nessesarily innappropriate to go without, especially if you have a unique body situation that makes it difficult, but it is a bit odd and people may look at you strangely in this world if you run around with nothing on at all, even if you are a yokai who may not nessesarily need covering or protection. But it does vary from city to city and how you grow up, too, honestly. Donnie grew up in a bit more of a 'we dont care as much' kind of place, hence why he just wears like his short toga skirt thing in the beginning during LG. id like to think His brothers tease him about being technically half naked all the time while they wear clothes much more reguarily, and eventually he's like, fine ok I need a new style. And thus he goes to raph, and is like, 'make me some practical clothes I can fight in.' And raph makes EVERYONE matching clothes eventually.

Idk that's the reasoning behind the outfit change in my head at least.

These first few batches were more so concept sketches and figuring out what I liked

Below here are the examples of the finalized costumes I decided on. more or less, anyway, i am still pondering the chest strap things on the sides and what colors to make 'em but

I changed the shade of raphs skin slightly to compliment his brothers' more. I wanted them to all be unique. The first group image isn't height accurate though, only the second one. oh, and i also lightened up Leo's skin tone just a tad, i felt it was too similar to donnie's in uhhh i forget what it's called, the black and white shade thing. i wanted them to be distinguishable and not blend into eachother weirdly when they were too close together or something.
