Aragorn Elessar is somehow underrated I think. Yes he is an amazing king, but I think it overshadows his courage in getting to that point. All Aragorn has seen has been judgement and failing of men. His ancestor is blamed for the fall of his people, so he blames himself. He can be seen shielding himself from the pride of men and royalty, cloaking himself instead in chivalry and compassion that is so often observed with his kindness toward Frodo in the hobbit’s struggles. I think Aragorn saw a reflection of his own fears in Frodo; a task brought to them both by family and a duty that weighed heavily on their shoulders. Aragorn is not one to complain, nor is rarely seen blaming others. He leads but does not consider himself a leader because he puts others before himself time and time again, strongly reflecting the themes and influences of WW1 Tolkien included throughout his novels through representation of camaraderie. All I’m saying is Aragorn needed a novel of his own haha.
