I wonder how much of sam despising gollum is simple revulsion at a what he sees as a morally bankrupt and just plain old gross creature and how much is a projection of all his fear and anxiety for frodo and what he may become. If its just too painful for sam to look directly at the reflection of his dearest friends' potential future and so he burries himself deeply in denial and rejects gollum in order to protect himself from that pain and also just, resents the fuck out of gollum for being a constant reminder of that pain
This is the farthest away he has ever been from home :)
Honestly the best high fantasy booms ever could reread, relisten, an rewatch and never get sick of it 10/10⭐️
If you've always wanted to read the book but never have I highly recommend them. They are so amazing and such comfort reads for when you want long adventures stories!
