For a long moment she just stood there, a wry smirk on her face. The noble's face was deepening with furious panic as the seconds drew out. So uptight. Bruce must have seriously warned everyone about me. The thought of her name conjuring fear sent a shiver of delight down her spine.

The goddess snorted with derision. "She's a liability. She's simply a rung on the ladder of our ambitions, Sirce. Or have you forgotten why this bloodshed has even happened?"

Telemachus' ginger eyes glistened with uncertainty. "I have heard them. Everybody has. This is risky for me too."

Hey guys so… I kinda have a fantasy book up on Wattpad 😅 I’ve wanted to write it for a while ; I basically wrote it bc it’s so hard to find books that have tall, dark, handsome women instead of men haha 😂 so I thought I would write one! Aragorn Elessar is somehow underrated I think. Yes he is an amazing king, but I think it overshadows his courage in getting to that point. All Aragorn has seen has been judgement and failing of men. His ancestor is blamed for the fall of his people, so he blames himself. He can be seen shielding himself from the pride of men and royalty, cloaking himself instead in chivalry and compassion that is so often observed with his kindness toward Frodo in the hobbit’s struggles. I think Aragorn saw a reflection of his own fears in Frodo; a task brought to them both by family and a duty that weighed heavily on their shoulders. Aragorn is not one to complain, nor is rarely seen blaming others. He leads but does not consider himself a leader because he puts others before himself time and time again, strongly reflecting the themes and influences of WW1 Tolkien included throughout his novels through representation of camaraderie. All I’m saying is Aragorn needed a novel of his own haha.

You know one thing that I haven’t seen mentioned much about the LOTR books (probably bc I look mainly at fanart and memes) is Tolkien’s representation of trauma following the events of the fellowship - in particular Frodo. This can be seen in the final pages of the book. Frodo was given a jewel from Arwen to subside the pain the ring instilled permanently into the ring bearer. The book describes this jewel as something Frodo clutches in memory of the ring . Tolkien also describes that on particular dates Frodo grows unwell- mainly those including traumatic events like weathertop, as mentioned in the film. This representation of trauma following war is another element that makes Professor Tolkien’s work so influential. From obvious incorporation of his own experience in the First World War, he crafts a dark reality into the otherwise somewhat sunny ending of LOTR, really showing the cost of war and sacrifice of oneself for a cause rather than playing off the ending as a solid ‘happily ever after’ conclusion. I just can’t get enough of these books - there is always so much to explore and so many layers to uncover. - E
