Why not both?
I'm confused. Why do you think that 90% of CAMAB people are closeted women, yet call feminists 'cisfeminists' rather than applying the same logic to the CAFAB population. Why do you think you can out CAMAB people everywhere and erase the existence of closeted trans CAFAB who nut surely exist in the same quantity. Or do you just hate CAFAB people like the MRAs do
No, I donāt think trans female prevalence is 90%⦠I mean maybe but almost certainly not. I do, however think 90% or more of trans women are closeted women. (That would be a trans female prevalence of 10% at least, which the GIRES dataās trajectory would suggest is well-within the realm of possibility.)
If you want to find a feminist who thinks trans female prevalence is 100%, youād have to talk to Valerie Solanas. Thatās what she inadvertently argued in The SCUM Manifesto when she said that deep down all [CAMABs] want to be [recognized as] women. Iām not quite that radical. The furthest I usually entertain notions of trans prevalence going is 60% CAMAB 20% CAFAB (based on the 3:1 transition ratio not really going away, and in fact, going down in more overtly transmisogynistic western countries like Sweden.)
I am a feminist, first of all. So stop implying that Iām not one, please. That said, given that Julia Serano has often been called an MRA, Iām not sure why I shouldnāt view solarmetronomeās attempt to invalidate my feminism in service of her conditional cis privilege (and mine but Iām trying at least to check it in a way she doesnāt) as anything but a badge of honour.
I do believe that cisfeminists inadvertently lobby for CAFAB-only issues. Which is why their blindspot on CAMAB survivors, among a dozen other issues. And I also believe that many TERFs are closeted men, projecting their own dysphoria, in a very violent, and oppressive manner, frequently talking over and egregiously misrepresenting the people with whom they disagree. Demanding control over spaces that marginalized women need⦠Sounds like every description of male entitlement Iāve ever heard.
But the reason that CAFAB-specific activism is problematic is that CAFABs in the West arenāt oppressed for being CAFABs:
CAFABs are less likely to be homeless, jailed, and murdered than CAMABs, and that also holds true for those CAFABs presently identifying as female and CAMABs presently identifying as male.Because of coercive cisness, I could not accurately call these groups cis women and cis men respectively. In the United States, 105 CAMAB infants die per year as a result of genital mutilation. Zero CAFAB infants do. When including forced-to-penetrate and prison, CAMABs are raped more often. CAMABs are physically abused more often. CAMABs are less likely to graduate high school.
Please name me another unidirectionally privileged group for which any of these things are true.
Iād hold that this is because even if cis men are treated somewhat better than cis women, closeted trans women are treated far worse and trans prevalence is far higher than previously thought.
Trans men have unidirectional privilege over trans women (NGLTF, Injustice At Every Turn, 2011).
Cis women have unidirectional privilege over trans women (Ibid).
If the general power hierarchy of gender kyriarchy is:
Cis men
Cis women / Trans men
Trans women
Then you could explain why CAMABs lag CAFABs in so many socioeconomic categories while men could oppress women. That said, Iām talking about neurologically male and female persons respectively, not the CAMABs/CAFABs, not male-presenting / female-presenting, etc, just actual men and women, who would be free to live their lives without a cisheterosupremacist power structure, but presently are not.
That said, yours is an argument Iād never think to hear from someone who believes in privilege theory? Gee, why would I tend to distrust and dislike a group of people who all have unidirectional privilege over me, I wonder?

Call-Out of solarmetronomeās Abuse of Call-Out culture to cover her own transmisogyny against closeted trans women. Receipts Below.
Some of you might be familiar with the recent attempt by solarmetronome to frame my concern for those trans women who havenāt accessed identification as being transmisogynistic. I referred to her as a kapo. This I cop to, but in this instance, and generally, I feel it is a fair accusation. Kapoism is when you sell out people with whom you an oppression because your oppressor treats you better when you do. The word came to me via Lisa Harney of Questioning Transphobia. Itās been used in other instances in transfeminist circles:
http://www.transadvocate.com/to-calpernia-addams-and-andrea-james-trans-cyberbullying-is-never-ok_n_4285.htm
I maintain that this is an apt comparison, and that no identity protects someone from having their actions and position and unchecked conditional cis privilege called out in this way.
But thatās not whatās important. Whatās important is demonstrating exactly how far solarmetronome has been bending the truth, abusing the fact that people have limited energy to follow this stuff to make accusations that have no merit.
In response to more than a hundred people reblogging this dreck, including to the point where Iāve been told to harm myself and kill myself, I sent her yet another ask.
She replied, dismissively, and I pointed out that this case seemed eerily similar to something that happened to me in Junior High School (where I was... horrifically bullied. Like aggravated assault multiple times bullied). Here now is the text:
This reminds me of an exchange in seventh grade, in homeroom, with another bully who was accessed cisfeminine privilege, social networks, and used social justice language to get her way:
Now, for context, which you hate, Edmonton is a multi-ethnic city. We have First Nations, Metis, and for that matter, Francophones of all races. So when a pale girl with hair about my colour, at my school⦠the school where thus far Iād had food smeared on my locker every day, my used bike vandalized, been flattened with a running sucker-jumpkick, been tripped while running in gym class and sprained both wrists, scalded with hot chocolate⦠by the last name of Lavoie lean over and start my day with some body-shaming abuse, I really didnāt think of the potential implications of this exchange in homeroom:
Her: Hey do your parents own a donut factory?
Me: No, do your parents own a glue factory? (Yeah, I know, classism in service of fighting fatphobia, not my finest moment.)
By the end of the day, trying to take the bus home, I was physically confronted by a half-dozen students claiming I said āIndians Drink Lysol.ā
Now, anybody reading this would see that the accusation was invalid. Solarmetronome sees it too, which is why thatās not what she said in response.
She also talks in great detail about feeling very upset and hard done by for having people try to address her being racist during her childhood.
Sheās been carefully linking screen shots this whole time to give a veneer of authenticity but not this time. This time she couldnāt do it, because it was a bridge too far. Because sheād be caught lying. Like sheās been lying this whole time.
This is toxic call-out culture in action. If you care about the way in which itās being abused, I ask you to signal boost this post and to let solarmetronome know, WITHOUT any threats or exhortations to self harm or kyriarchal language, just how unacceptable this is.
EDIT:
One of solarmetronomeās libel brigade, asavelveteen has attempted to use the posting of an actual violent, transmisogynistic, anti-semite, el-shaddai9 to slur me.
http://valeriekeefe.tumblr.com/post/130091940916/its-really-a-shame-that-while-being-a-part-of-one
You see how they canāt stop lying about me? Their entire case is built on misrepresentations and spoofed evidence.
http://thekarmagem.tumblr.com/post/130076064119/id-strongly-advise-all-my-followers-especially
Guess what thekarmagem: I also think youād find a lot of trans men hiding in the closed amongst TERFs. Only they could argue with such problematic passion how much it sucks to be [CAFAB], and I think the same applies to the MRM.
I also donāt think trans women are nearly as vanishingly rare as you do. Donāt suppose the reason youāre under-selling trans female prevalence is so as to make trans acceptance seem more palatable to cis lesbians or anything...
