Soft, feathery darkness of sleep was like a blanket over Souji when he felt the tengu’s nuzzle, his soft coo. He stirred faintly, violet eyes cracking open to see darkened sky cut with shafts of color. He sat up, close to Sojobo for warmth, and looked out into the sky.
Pale pink and soft blues, oranges and purples... the sunrise painted a lovely picture of cotton candy against the dark of the night, and he smiled sleepily, still tired, but happy to be part of the moment, to share it with his beloved tengu. “It’s lovely, Sojobo-sama...” was murmured, eyes still heavy, but eager to stay open and watch the light cut through, and the sun peak over the horizon.
