s h o r t  b i o: born just outside carlsbad, texas on the PASC (the people awaiting the second coming) compound, Delilah was the first born of a Montana-bred highschool dropout and a chief enforcer for Pastor Walter Wallace Grimshaw. at fourteen, delilah alleged that the pastor was forcing young girls of his flock into “sacred marriages” to older men, claims which the local sheriff (noted for being a distance cousin of the pastor) said were unsubstantiated and owning to delilah’s own behavioral problems. a year later, after an altercation for pastor grimshaw, delilah disappeared from the compound and would not reemerge again until she was seventeen, now located in los angeles, and filed for emancipation from her parents—who were all too happy to sign the papers. officially ostracized by the community, delilah had virtually no communication with her family, including her younger sister Rachel. through manipulation, resume smudging and charisma, delilah eventually established herself as a top event planner at one of hollywood’s premiere firms until, over fourteen years since her mother had acknowledged her, she received a call from the hysteric woman begging her to “save her sister’s soul” from the “hands of the sinners” rachel had fallen into. unable to establish communication with her sister or the jessop family, other than one nasty phone call with a man named joseph seed, and unable simply drive into hope county and retrieve her sister, delilah did what she did best—lied, manipulated, and falsified herself enough get a position as a junior deputy with the hope county sheriff’s office. one week later, she went down into the valley with the us marshal to serve joseph seed his warrant and never left.

s i n ( s ): wrath, lust

b e l i e f s: delilah views eden’s gate the same way she did PASC—it’s bullshit and just an excuse for joseph seed to get his rocks off. however, her loyalty is single-minded and assured so long as rachel refuses to leave.

r e l a t i o n s h i p s:

⛪ j o s e p h: delilah wouldn’t piss on joseph if he caught fire and her loathing extends from a deep, traumatized part of her that is inherently suspicious of his relationship with rachel. but she keeps her head down and plays along at hosanna in the highest. she’s good at it.

📿 j o h n: it’s no secret anyone that delilah and john, closest in age and general temperament, screw. john’s inability to get a rise out of delilah has led to a near obsession, a wound delilah has no issues sinking her nails into. whatever relationship it is, it’s one defined by blood and teeth.

🕊️ f a i t h: delilah makes it no secret she’s here for her sister, who no longer answers to “rachel” but faith harbors a buried resentment at delilah for leaving the compound when they were young. as such their conversations and interactions are stilted and awkward, but delilah is uncompromising her dedication and love for her sister.j

⚰️ j a c o b: delilah runs circles around jacob and the few times they interact never ends well. out of all the seed siblings, jacob is strangely most often the recipient of her vitriol—perhaps because she sees something of her father in him.

b l i s s  e x p o s u r e / l e v e l  o f  i n d o c t r i n a t i o n : owning to her intense desire to control and faith’s protection, delilah has only been exposed to small amounts of bliss. she has ‘wrath’ tattooed across the small of her back and ‘lust’ carved into her hip, courtesy of john, and consent of the application is dubious at best. she’s been spared jacob’s conditioning at josephs command, who knew it would cause tension with faith.
