can't believe no one was curious about this one smh i love when men are insane about their wives but that's okay. so, this happens once they've settled back into the organisation, and some context here is that diana is not well-liked back there. like, not at all. even though she is a key figure in the bioweapons research there, and her position is high up, she may be respected for that, but she is still regarded with a lot of hostility by agents in the company
so, they are in the main hall, where there are a lot of people present, and this guy walks past them and purposefully bumps into diana while calling her something very not nice under his breath. people side-eye her, but as always, she just ignores it and continues walking. wesker, on the other hand, does not
he instantly picks this guy up by his throat with ease and pins him to the nearest wall before saying in the calmest, most collected voice, "i believe you owe her an apology" and diana is standing there like⌠so, those things you would casually say about protecting me which would be horrifying to most people were definitely not a joke⌠interesting. this guy tears his eyes from wesker to look over at her before scoffing and saying in this mocking tone that he sees she has a bodyguard now. not a very wise choice on this guy's part
wesker reaches down with the hand not holding this guys throat, which he's been gently squeezing ever so slightly, and he breaks this agent's trigger finger while tilting his head slightly to watch his reaction. the groan and yelp were nice, but not what he wanted. he wished to make this guy scream in agony for ever speaking to diana in such a way, but all he does is remain graceful about it all, and he repeats himself, saying it would be wise for him to apologise or he might end up with more broken fingers, and oh, he wouldn't be very useful then, now would he?
i will not lie to you, this whole display really turns diana on. like, i'm sorry, but that makes her so woozy. but, he only tightens his grip on this guy's neck, testing him, while everyone in the hall watches this unfold. further context here, this agent was a friend of her ex-husband's and there were a lot of rumours that circulated about what happened to him, even though nothing could implicate her, but they all knew how he had made a fool of her, and as ruthless as she is, they wouldn't have been surprised if she offed him, but this all only added to the insults she would receive
this guy finally realises this isn't an empty threat when it gets very hard to breathe, so he weakly mutters something out. wesker turns his head and puts a hand up to his ear, as if to say 'what was that?' while lessening his grip on the man's throat, and he gasps loudly for breath, which makes wesker roll his eyes (fed up lmao). his eyes dart between the two of them before he apologises to diana, and wesker glances over at her before shaking his head, saying that wasn't good enough, so he gets this guy to plead for her forgiveness, and it's such a satisfying sight for diana
wesker lets him go and he stumbles away while holding his neck and gasping some more, then wesker looks back at her properly and the way her eyes have darkened amuses him far too much. but there is also this⌠appreciation behind it which catches him off guard, and he wonders how often this sort of thing happens. and yes, she may or may not have walked closer to him and whispered in his ear for him to meet her in her lab in a few before walking away, and he delights in how people in the hall can't even look at him

after she shows up at dutch's bunker with an open side wound that nicely sells the narrative that she was helplessly caught in the crossfire of the reaping kicking off she rummages through his shit to take inventory of both his knowledge and his resources, you know, no real reason, just making sure that in case of an emergency the bunker's fitted out for checks notes seven years or you know some arbitrary number like that. oh yeah where are the prepper stashes in the area? SO helpful ty this will help SO much. oh are your comms down that's soooooo sad. pouring out half a bottle of whiskey on her side like yeah no i'm good i'm really really good.
she crashes there for the rest of the night of the reaping (much to her chagrin, she would have liked to be with her people nailing sinners to telephone polls, but she couldn't very well go back out into the chaos without raising suspicion from dutch about her distressed damsel schtick). the next day is. the most uneventful of anyone in the county for her because she's a target for exactly no one and dutch still has no signal so she can just slip over to the outposts the project already took over and get reports. ends up just strolling off the island and across the bridge into the valley. shit is blowing up around her. oh well. yes, she will be taking boomer, he knows her, scratch brother john's order, yes, she's overruling him, would you like to call him about it? at a time like this? she didn't think so.
she does get holed up in fall's end for a couple days in the initial town stand-off because she once again can't really waltz past the other peggies without blowing her cover, which she's not prepared to do yet. sits there smoking five cigarettes at once and bleeding all over the spread eagle's floor while she takes town inventory to assess how long it would take to starve them out if it came to it and slips supplies to the project members on the outskirts of town at night during ceasefires. she ends up making a break for it after smuggling out enough town artillery that they can passively run surveillance on it without losing more of their people than they have to.
On the second night, Sivala realises that the stars are brighter on Tatooine.Â
See, there are some things you forget when you live on a city-world, and the sheer beauty of the galaxy whirling above your head is definitely one of them. On Daiyu, the sky is choked with pollution during the day, and when the lights come on after dark like the many eyes of a waking nightdweller, the stars are blinded by their fluorescence.Â

If he notices, he says nothing. Only exhales slowly; sets his poor excuse for a plate aside.Â
âIâm afraid Iâve⌠gotten rather used to it.â
âYouâll get used to anything after ten years,â she muses. âStill. Itâs a prettier sight than anywhere else Iâve been in a while.â
She doesnât specify where sheâs coming from, nor where sheâll be going once her sojourn here is over. But they have an agreement on that front; he doesnât ask her about her work, and she doesnât ask him about what ties him here, to this planet peeled down to its bones. Even if she does sometimes wonder.
âI didnât take you for an astronomer,â Obi-Wan reflects, something wry about the set of his mouth in the moonlight. âI suppose I never had the time to ask. I never thought to.â
She shrugs. âWe had⌠bigger things to worry about, then.â
âWe have big things to worry about now,â he mutters, and his smile doesnâtâ doesnât die, exactly, but it withers, dry as the acres of sand and rock around them.
Itâs true. They do have big things to worry about now. Jabiimâs lost to them; the Path functions at half its previous size, limiting itself to only the rumour of a whisper. Darth Vader will never leave her people â and that includes Obi-Wan, now â alone.Â
But the stars are beautiful on Tatooine, and out in the desert like this â with the twin suns tucked away behind the horizon and nothing but the whisper of the wind filling the air â it feels like theyâre the only people on the planet. The only people in the galaxy.Â
So Sivala exhales. Consciously releases the ache in her chest, just for a little whileâ and points up at random.
âYou remember learning the charts, donât you? Whatâs that?â
The look he gives her through his lashes is so sardonic she almost laughs.Â
âI havenât been quizzed on star charts in decades, Sivala.â
âThen youâre due a test, I imagine,â she retorts, somewhat primly. âBesides, itâs useful information to have. Just in case.â
Just in case. She doesnât elaborate. She doesnât want to.
When he looks unconvinced, she rolls her shoulders back, resting her full weight on her palms behind her so she can take in the sky. Then she nods to a radiant patch of stars due north, so bright that they wash the planet with cold light.
âFor example, Iâd say thatâs the Ghost Tide Nebula. Itâs some rough navigation, if I remember correctly, but from here, it looks⌠quite lovely.â
Thereâs a pause. Then a rustle as â not to be outdone â Obi-Wan heaves a sigh, leans back with her, and gestures west.Â
âTyrius. Thatâ that star over the outcropping. The one flickering. Itâs Tyrius.â
With her eyes, she follows the long line of his arm, shoulder-to-elbow, elbow-to-pointer-finger, until she finds the sun in question. She remembers little and less about the Tyrius system, but itâs easy to spot now she knows what to look for.
Somehow, she canât quite smother her triumph at persuading him to join her in something so mundane as star-gazing. It dredges up a rusty smile from somewhere half-forgotten inside her, and sheâs so unused to the sensation that she bites down on her lip to contain it.Â
His presence in the Force flickers slightly in response, amused, but all he says is, âAnd over there, thatâs Neri.â
âIs it?â She frowns at the distant blue light and leans closer, which is silly of her, because she already knows it wonât change the view. âI thought that was Nen.â
âI have been looking at this sky for ten years, Sivala.â
âAnd youâve got old eyes, Obi-Wan, so Iâll forgive you your follies.â
When she turns her head in this position, his face is a matter of inches from hers, but thatâs not what surprises her. Itâs the strange expression she finds there; the furrowed brow, the crinkling of crowâs feet. How the not-quite smile plays so cautiously at his lips.
For a moment, they do nothing but consider each other. She could read his thoughts right now, she realises. This is the most unguarded sheâs ever seen him, and Sivalaâs always been oddly in-tune with the Force when it came to people. She could.
She doesnât. Itâsâ itâs not something you do to the people you love. You shouldnât, anyway.
As though sensing the path her thoughts have taken himself, Obi-Wan leans away, eyes skittering to the side. His aura â slowly warming all evening â fades away almost physically, like a blanket ripped off her shoulders.
âAh. Andâ and thatâs Andooweel in the east, by the horizon.â
âQuite,â she says, coming back to herself so suddenly it knocks her back into her earlier position, away from him. âYes.â
by the time faith crawls through hollyâs window, itâs well past 3am. well, at least according to the polka-dot clock on hollyâs desk that faith has to squint at to see through the dark.
