(Princess Justice snarls with fury as she sees a billboard of Chat Noir. The news is reporting on the revealed "abuse" that Ladybug had done to him. Pfft, that mangy furball wasn't being abused. She was merely putting him in his place. She was the leader, not him, and now he wanted to play victim? To make things worse, her social media was filled with outrage, her supposed loyal supporters were turning on her. Traitorous bastards! Her mother had called her, saying the police were on their way. Well she wasn't going to let anything stop her from getting vengeance.)

Princess Justice

Do they even know who they're dealing with?

Think I'll let it go? Forget and forgive?

(She could see Socqueline, her cousin and wonderful teacher, in her mind. Even in this new form, all-powerful, Socqueline still loomed over her. She was Marinette's instructor, the one who had molded the girl into the queen she had become.)

Princess Justice

This rage in me

Socqueline

Yeah?

Princess Justice

Is terminal

Socqueline

Yeah?!

Socqueline egged her on, clearly enjoying this.

Princess Justice

There's no remedy

Princess Justice & Socqueline

But to burn them all!

(The princess began to march through Paris, looking for pawns to advance her plan.)

(She begins using the powers bestowed upon her by Hawk Moth to rally an army of scarlet Akumas, caring little for the fact they were once the Parisians she "protected".)

(Alya has been filming her former friend for her Ladyblog, deciding once and for all she'd no longer turn a blind eye to Marinette's tyranny. Princess Justice sneers at her.)

(Alya is petrified, and dares not make any sudden movement as the akuma begins to think about Adrien.)

(Alya takes the little time that Princess was venting to slink off. She had been training for weeks now to be fast enough to avoid any minions of an akuma. This would be damning footage and she knew she needed to begin gathering a resistance.)

So, standard Marinette got her pigtail style from Socqueline, because Socqueline was someone she looked up to, who had defended her.

We know that present-day Emonette doesn't really have friends, and especially not anyone who's stood up to Chloe for her, or at least that that's her perspective on the situation. And I can't see a reason why she'd be unable to keep in touch with Socqueline, just that it might be somewhat more difficult now that they're in different schools.

Yet Emonette has pigtails.

She also has very similar pants, and Marinette started wearing those after the pants she was wearing in the first image were ruined (as you can see, her bum is green). Did some version of that same sequence happen?

Interestingly, though, Toxinelle does not have pigtails.

So if she is still wearing the pigtails as a mark of respect to Socqueline, or a way to remind herself to behave as Socqueline would, then she has NOT adopted it as fully as Marinette did.

Perhaps that's because she's behaving in a villainous way, and is at least on some level aware that, whatever Re-verse Socqueline is like, she would not approve? I think that that argument is supported by her post-redemption hair:

She doesn't look the same as standard Ladybug, she's kept the red in her hair, and an interesting design in the sides of her suit. But she has adopted the pigtails, which I think can mean one of two things: she's doing a similar thing to the Socqueline hair but with standard Ladybug, thus making it an imitation of kinda-herself imitating Socqueline; or she gets the reference, and is also to an extent drawing from HER Socqqueline.

Obviously, we've never met Re-verse Socqueline, and we don't know if Emonette has either. We don't know much about Re-verse Sabine, but we know that she's not someone calm and stable that Emonette can turn to for good advice, and that Emonette seemed incredibly struck to hear "I love you" from her voice. And Marinette met Socqueline through Sabine. So it's entirely possible they don't know each other well, if at all, and that this was an animation design choice to keep Emonette as on-model for Marinette as they could.

Labor 1- Slay the Nemean Lion

The lion’s hide was impenetrable, so Socqueline would have to ditch her weapons. She managed to get her hands around the lion’s neck and snap it. After this, she discovered the lion’s own claws could cut its hide, and from that moment on, she wore its hide as armor.

Labor 2- Slay the Lernaean Hydra

Socqueline confronted the fearsome, nine-headed beast in its swamp home, and provoked it into battle. But each time she cut off one of its heads, two more grew in its place! But Socqueline was a quick thinker, and she lit a torch, using the fire to cauterize the wound when she cut off a head to prevent any more from growing, effectively killing the monster.

Labor 3- Capture one of the Ceryneian Hinds

The Ceryneian hinds were mystical deer with golden horns and brass hooves that were sacred to Juleka, the goddess of the hunt and the forest. Socqueline was smart and didn’t want to just take it, so she prayed to the goddess for permission, which Juleka granted…as long as she could catch one of the swift creatures without hurting it. (These labors were supposed to be challenging, to prove Socqueline’s worth as a hero after all!) It took her over a month, but she succeeded! After presenting it to her uncle, who assigned her the tasks, Socqueline released the deer to return to Juleka.

Labor 4- Capture the Erymanthian Boar

The massive monstrous boar had been terrorizing the people living around Mount Erymanthos for years, and it was so ferocious and determined that no one could stop its rampages. Socqueline finds that not even she can stop the charging boar, and goes to the wise centaur Fu for help. He instructs her to chase the boar into the snow drifts of the mountain, letting it exhaust itself. Socqueline does as she’s told and carries the worn out boar to show her uncle. He’s so afraid of the creature that he hides in an urn until she releases it outside.

Labor 5- Clean the Augean Stables in One Day

The stables of King Augeas were the home to 1000 divine cows, and hadn’t been cleaned in over 30 years. Ew. Socqueline had no intent of even trying to touch that mess, thank you very much, and comes up with a plan. There happen to be two rivers nearby and by rerouting their flows for a hot second, she manages to wash away all the filth. And takes five baths upon returning home.

Labor 6- Slay the Stymphalian Birds

These nasty sky critters had feathers made of solid bronze that were sharp as daggers and could spit fire! There was also the fact that they ate people, that’s a problem. Not sure how she could kill them without getting near them, Socqueline had prayed to the god Max, who advised her to use two large rocks to make such a mess of noise that the birds would fly about in a panic. When this happened, Socqueline was able to shoot their vulnerable undersides with her arrows.

Labor 7- Capture the Cretan Bull

This was a task for no average matador, as the creature in question was incredibly strong and capable of breathing fire. Calling on assistance from Eri, the goddess of witchcraft, Socqueline made a salve that rendered her pretty much fireproof. After an exhausting chase, she was able to wrestle the bull to the ground and herd it back to her uncle. She then released it into the wild, where it was left in peace.

Labor 8- Steal and Tame the Mares of Diomedes

Okay, not only were these horses absolutely crazy, but they also happened to eat people. So, Socqueline armored up and set out to deal with them. Getting an idea, she releases the horses and charges them through the countryside until they’re exhausted. Once this is done, she’s able to bind their mouths shut and bring them before her uncle. The horses are then put under permanent sedation and highly guarded until their deaths.

Labor 9- Get the Sacred Belt of Fei, the Amazon Queen

Socqueline traveled to the Isle of the Amazons to speak to her old friend Fei, their queen. When she asked to borrow the belt, Fei gave her a playful smile and said she would allow it…if Socqueline could finally beat her in a sparring match, which the latter gladly accepted. The duel took hours, the two matching each other in skill, but Socqueline eventually emerged victorious and Fei was true to her word.

Labor 10- Steal the Cattle of the Monster, Geryon

Geryon was a monster with three bodies all stemming from one base, and he was incredibly strong. When Socqueline first arrived on his island she was attacked by Orthrus, his two-headed guard dog, who she quickly managed to befriend and send on his way. Geryon himself then came out and when it was clear he wouldn’t be reasoned with, Socqueline promptly shot an arrow into two of his chests and threatened to finish the job if he didn’t back off. He did, she got the cattle and left.

Labor 11- Steal the Golden Apples of the Hesperides

The golden apples of the Hesperides were from a tree sacred to Marinette, the queen of the gods and they couldn’t be picked by a mortal. Thankfully, just nearby was the father of the Hesperides, the nymphs that tended the tree, none other than the Titan Atlas! Offering to hold the sky for him while he picked the apples, Socqueline completed the task, tricking him into taking the sky back ‘for a sec while she made a pad for her shoulders’, before leaving. After presenting the apples to her uncle, she placed them in one of Marinette’s temples to return them to the goddess.

Labor 12- Capture Baark, the guard dog of the Underworld

Socqueline traveled down to the Underworld, asking for Nathaniel, the lord of the Underworld, and his king Marc’s permission to borrow the three-headed hound. They agreed, on the condition that Socqueline didn’t harm Baark while subduing her. With that, Socqueline was able to easily befriend the dog, and after a playful wrestling match, brought her up to the surface to show her uncle. Who almost died of fright. After that, she released Baark to return home and her labors were finally complete.
