Again, another scene with so many feels. Touching, yet sad. Also one of the many profound soliloquies Ok Jeong has with herself that drops hints of what is yet to come.

Ok Jeong stares up at the moon and thinks about Lee Seon. She then recites Li Bai's poem "玉階怨" (The Jewel Stairs’ Grievance)

Although only 2 lines in chinese, it takes more to explain in English. That's how much meaning olden day poems were!

The jewelled steps are already quite white with dew,

It is so late that the dew soaks my gauze stockings,

And I let down the crystal curtain

And watch the moon through the clear autumn.

There's a lot to analyze with Chinese poems, so let's keep it simple.

This is a poem about a palace lady (note: gauze stockings) waiting for her lover to return. She has been waiting since morning as her socks are wet from the dew. He is not coming, so she can only let the curtains fall back and watch the moon through them.

The beauty of this poem is that it clearly states 'resentment (怨)' in it's title, yet throughout the whole poem not a single utterance of the character, and it is evident that the whole poem is filled with it.

Okay, back to Ok Jeong here. Is this some sort of fore-shadowing into what will happen to Ok Jeong in the future? Will she be left alone to wait for the King to come to her? As history tells, she will die 'alone'...Brings me back to when In Kyung was dying and Ok Jeong said to herself she is envious because she had the King by her side (in the other many soliloquies she had)
