Why is there so much out that we want to see?!? Wait... did we actually finish 13 series since our last post?!!! Guess that is what happens when bunch of series wrap up and very few live watches means we have time to binge. We have been having fun! Our last post for anyone interested.
At A Glance:
Weak Hero Class 1
South Korea - Drama
Staring: Park Ji-hoon & Choi Hyun-wook
Yeon Si-eun is a high school loner that studies hard with his sole focus on his grades. When school bullies push him too far, this weak underdog viciously fights back using his brain to level the playing field.
It's easy to see why so many people love this series and we have joined the ranks. Sieun is one of those characters you desperately root for. We were so invested in his story and watching his relationships develop. The friendship between Sieun and Suho is everything! But this series hurt and is not here to hold your hand or offer you comfort. Still, even if it made us anxious and left us broken, we loved it and are seated for season 2.
Ending: Saaaaad 😭 No comfort and no hope.
Tears: Yep.
Fluff Violence: So much! We felt some of those hits in our body! 🤢
Heads up: bullying, violence, abusive parent

Kill To Love
Singapore/Chinese series - Romantic Drama
Staring: Zhang Zhe Xu & Mi Jin
One is the sixth prince never meant to take the throne and the other an enemy assassin. When a relationship forms between two people that continuously lie, scheme and hurt each other, love turns toxic and becomes a cruel weapon. The line between love and hate blurs as they become trapped by circumstance and duty.
This series.... 😭 We refused to watch live since we were scared it could end sad... and then it did. After getting spoilers, we just couldn't make ourselves watch it even though everyone swore it was worth the pain! Fast forward to our terrible choice to let tumblr pick a series from ones we kept bumping and Kill To Love won in a landslide. So we forced ourselves to finally watch. After initially crashing out, we have to admit that we think this was a really good story and we are glad we didn't miss it.
This story is a full tragedy and these two were doomed from the start. But even though we knew where it was going, we found it impossible not to get invested. These characters just worked well for us and we wished they could have a happy ending even though we knew it was impossible. Things were too toxic and too broken and we are actually glad they didn't try to wash that all away with a happy ending. We are obsessed over how these characters mirror each other. Light spoiler: One regrets nothing and would make the same choices again. The other regrets everything and wishes he chose differently. One couldn't let go of duty and the other couldn't let go of love. They both lie and hurt each other over and over again and it's both well done and devastating to watch. The larger story could have been stronger and better developed, but overall, it gave us enough to sink our teeth into and feel satisfied. If you feel like being wrecked by tragic lovers doomed to hurt each other, this one was good. Bring tissues.
Ending: 😭😭😭 This was a tragedy.
Tears: Even armed with spoilers, this hurt!

Side Couple: queer... tiny side bl couple and hint at gl romance
Romance Scenes: even with proof of sex, these scenes were short and sweet with very little spice
Flavor of Scenes: vanilla with sprinkles... tiny bit of extra color thrown in

Japan - Slice of Life/Romance
Staring: Takeda Kouhei & Shibuya Kento
After quitting his job as pharmaceutical sales rep, Azuma Sakutaro is unemployed and living with his sister and nephew. When Sakutaro runs into a former colleague and rival, Kuji Shizuka hires Sakutaro to help him with his work as a translator. But their relationship is far from simple because eight years ago, the two shared a single night together before going their separate ways.
LOVE IT! We were instantly excited about a story involving older, mature characters, but we weren't expecting such a beautiful slice of life. This gem of a series feels so soft and cozy and sweet. It's a heavy, yet somehow comforting, and lets you sit quietly with your emotions. @romchat called it a "realistic drama that still feels like a gentle, warm hug" and we couldn't describe it better! Really impressed with this precious series.
Ending: warm and fuzzy and full of promise! 🥰
Tears: Not pain free, but they were gentle. Definitely felt heavy and could be much sadder for some people.

Romance Scenes: Only a few short cuts, but surprisingly spicy! 👀

Fine. It was really good. But OUCH! We are still debating if that tragedy was "worth it". Even with spoilers and having our emotional armor on, that was painful for so long. Maybe binging the last 6 episodes in one sitting wasn't a good idea, but we needed it over 🤣

Never been so excited for a Tuesday! Already seated and counting the minutes!
At the beginning of this month, @colourme-feral gifted us with the rainbow-themed prompt which I absolutely loved.
I have been sat for this prompt, and I have eaten gleefully every time a new set came my way.
And now that I have finally rested and recovered from work madness, I am here with my offering - rainbow love in neon.
This was a lot of fun, and it definitely pushed me to learn some new settings lol. I may love neon, but gifs and neon are definitely the couple that bicker a lot.
Now it's time to let the epic binge-fest commence. I have months of shows to catch up on!

We were seated hard from episode one for reasons, but how did this series work?! The way this competition spiraled out of control was absolutely absurd, but it fit so well with the characters and story they built. Instead of feeling ridiculous, they managed to actually make us believe this was exactly how these two would behave. And the resulting relationship was the same. Even when they needed to communicate better, it felt right instead of just annoying. We were really surprised and impressed at how solid of a story this turned out to be. Still weirdly absurd, but also cute and sweet and we loved it so much.
Ending: so happy and adorable! 🥰
Tears: Zero tears, but we felt those sads in our belly!

Fun selection. Haven't seen some of these, but definitely enjoyed a few from this list.
For us it came down to 3. We liked Cat for Cash (who wouldn't enjoy Khao being an adorable cat?!) and loved how cute Cosmetic Playlover season 2 was, but we had to vote for Countdown to Yes. We are huge suckers for painful friends to lovers and this one was great! It's a fun binge.
