Let's light up the night with one of my favorite things to do with snow! Snow lanterns are so much fun, and so pretty ❄️ It's even more fun when you have cutie-patootie grandboys to help out! This one is loosely based on the Scandinavian tradition of stacking snowballs to form a sort of igloo with a candle inside. Japan has an annual snow lantern festival, but those are usually carved into intricate shapes and are larger. I didn't make a snowman, but I made a little snow lantern. Mine is a little sloppy, but in some Scandinavian countries, they are made with snowballs in the shape of an igloo. An opening is left in the back, and a candle placed inside and lit at dusk. So pretty! There is a snow lantern festival in Japan each year, and the lanterns are carved into beautiful shapes.
