Saw someone complaining that the fallen dragons aren't being taken care of but I think it makes sense (they can't divert time and resources to recovering dead dragons right now), and, more importantly!!, it fits the story being told. The war itself was the human frailties and rot inside House Targaryen made visible. Their sigil, the thing that makes them so special and supposedly godlike, so obviously mortal and rotting away the same as any dead animal would, devastates the illusion.

okay okay okay but that post comparing Sansa and Daeron's stories has given me an idea:
Cregan Stark's younger sister being kidnapped by the Greens and forced to marry Daeron in an attempt to get Cregan to kneel. They are both terrified, her dire wolf has been chained up somewhere (because Ormund thinks that Strider is a beast) and when she hears talk that they might kill her wolf, she goes to free him in hopes that he can escape and live...Daeron is the one who told her where they were keeping Strider was but Ormund found out and followed her.
Daeron and Strider both attack him for attempting to kill Y/N, with Daeron feeding the body to his dragon, to cover the whole thing up.
Because the love Y/N gave him was true and he loved her more than he feared Ormund.
Everyone’s always like Oh treacherous House Hightower scheming and usurping the Targaryens. But like House Strong was eight inches deep in both team green and black mind you. Fucking both of their political pussies but no one mentions it. Two hand of the kings, one spymaster, one witch, and one baby daddy who very well might’ve cost Rhaenyra the throne. There's an interesting thing here where I think sometimes Rhaenyra being warmer would help, and that's her instinct, but she's being very firm because she can't risk seeming like a Woman™️. Particularly with Ulf and Hugh Hammer here.
And that plays on how closed off and sullen Aegon failson is. And there's that parallel, the both of them struggling to rule, finding that they can't lead with kindness... for Aegon because of unpreparedness and policy. For Rhaenyra, she's actually very civic minded and as cupbearer and experiencing what it is to be a woman being courted for her station. But by the time she gets the throne, it's left so barren from Viserys' legacy or neglect with the green children.
And Rhaenyra is very open to conversation, guidance and duality and nuance, but there's no room for it here. That flexibility would help Aegon survive his current predicament, but all he has is the idea of entitlement. It's all he's been given.
House of the Dragon is playing with so many interesting things. I really wish we made tv old school style. Imagine even 12 episodes and yearly drops for 5 or 6 healthy seasons. Aaaaaaaah.
