Alright, so, based on what I’ve heard from people over the last couple of years, I’ve been under the impression that Black Mirror is some kind of horror/sci-fi anthology series. Like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits... Amazing Stories, maybe. After watching the first episode, though, I really don’t know what to think. It was certainly tense in places, and had an... unusual tone, overall, but the subject matter is... Well.
The episode focuses on the kidnapping of a member of the British royal family, but that’s not really what it’s about, is it? It’s about the specific demands that the kidnapper makes of the prime minister. No attempt to meet these demands would even be made in the real world, given how ridiculous it is... but the demand was so unexpected, I laughed INCREDIBLY hard at the start of the episode, and at several points later in the episode people are laughing and cheering about it. This... isn’t really the kind of thing I was expecting from a show called Black Mirror. Is the entire series like this?
