Oscar is grateful for the momentary distraction that the thumping beat of the inside of the club provides. He’s still reeling from everything that just happened outside; he can still feel the phantom pressure of Zolf’s lips on his own. The drunken kiss had been as much of a surprise to Oscar as his own sudden retreat, and he doesn’t know what to make of it.
"It was a mistake," Zolf had said, and Oscar tries his best to ignore how much that hurts. He’s right, of course. They can’t allow this to happen. Oscar knows all too well what can happen when you mix business and pleasure. He found that out the hard way.
