#small webseries week

This Small Webseries Week thing has made me realize how much NOT alone we are. I mean, I guess we all kind of started off the same - we watched some pretty amazing productions (Pemberley, maybe?) and some smaller ones. And then we thought: hey, why not give this a shot? If they can do it, I surely can too.

But of course, it’s easier said than done, and once you begin doing it, you face the tough reality of producing a webseries from nothing: you don’t have the money, you don’t have the people, you don’t have the resources, and your will is not gonna save you from that. And then you start thinking “jesus, they make it seem so easy”.

But when I started reading lots and lots of other creators’ posts about how hard it is to do it, I realized that, hey, I’m not the only one struggling. And that’s great, because it reminds me that, although it’s sometimes quite a shitty process that makes me want to hide in bed and never produce anything else ever again, it is also something that we all go through and that helps make our creations and beliefs stronger. Whenever I think and read about the trouble that some amazing shows have gone through, I think to myself - yeah, it’s not easy, but it’s possible. And yeah, I don’t know if we’re gonna succeed. I don’t know if it’s gonna be a hit, hell, I don’t even know if people are gonna like it. But you know what?

I’m trying. I’m doing it. I’m making it possible.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to come on and say thank you for making the first SWW such a success! I think a lot of people found out about some new shows they hadn’t heard about before, and there was a lot of great discussion between creators. I would definitely consider doing this again, maybe an every-other-month type of thing? who knows. but anyway, if you didn’t get to participate during the week, don’t forget that small webseries can use your love all the time so keep that energy up! Thanks to everyone who participated, you’re all stars :)
