Specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia) and how they impact my life currently
dyscalculia makes counting money and typing in numbers difficult for me (I work at a pet store). Luckily the till computer calculates the change amount for me so I don't have to. I also have to count crickets so I have to basically guess how many I'm pouring in haha
Dyspraxia affects my walking and core muscle tone, which has caused me to repeatedly injure my ankle and have chronically bad posture (which I'm working on). It also affects my coordination which makes competitive sports nigh impossible (not an issue for me bc I also have asthma and therefore hate cardio). I like lifting weights but having good form is really hard for me and I don't want to injure myself so I stick to the weight machines which sort of force you to have good form. One thing I can't really do that I wish I could is play video games. I don't have the coordination to really play them without getting really frustrated because I keep dying or have to restart the game or whatever. A lot of my friends love video games and I would love to be able to play with them but that would essentially be like trying to teach a baby how to play, with my level of skill and expertise haha
Dyslexia doesn't impact my job much, and mine is relatively mild so I don't have to worry about it much. I just take longer to read things, which is sort of embarrassing but not overly problematic for me.
I don't have to hand write much in my job or outside of it so my dysgraphia doesn't really bother me anymore. The only problem is that I like to draw as a hobby and while I think I'm pretty good, I feel like my coordination issues negatively impact my drawing skills, particularly the precision of my linework. I practice a lot and I'm not too bothered by it because I only do it as a hobby, it's just something I struggle with more than other artists.
