Found this wonderfully animated ad for the first Dinotopia book.
It was directed by the late C. Martin Croker of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Brak Show fame. Seeing this ad makes me wish there was a proper animated adaptation of the Dinotopia books.

Propaganda (if any) under the cut! Please be civil, and feel free to reblog!
totally tubular~
quetzalcoatl and rider doodles
I wonder if skybax riders ever scratch a spot so well that they get silly faces from their partners?

Oh boy did elementary school me have a crush on Will Denison from Dinotopia. He got to fly around a socialist utopia on a giant dinosaur that was also his best friend! Anyway, I found barely anything on Tumblr's heinously bad search function (definitely none of the pics that made 8-year-old me swoon) then hyperfixated on raiding James Gurney's excellent blog for material so I could make a lil tribute post.
James Gurney, Skybax Rider, 1992. Oil on board. Painted for Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time (Turner Publishing, 1992).

No particular occasion, just feeling nostalgic haha.
...That and I just discovered you can link GIFs into Roll20, and I have a character that rides a pterosaur haha
