The gorge of the same name is located 5 km south of the largest city of the Issyk-Kul region, Karakol. The gorge-canyon is up to 40 km long and adjoins the Terskey Ala-Too ridge. In the upper part of the gorge in the warm season there is a mountaineering camp. The peaks most often climbed are Dzhigit Peak (5130 m), Karakol Peak (5281 m), Przhevalsky Peak (4283 m), Zhukov Peak (4450 m), Telman Peak (4460 m), Dimitrov Peak (4450 m) ), Fucik Peak (4210 m), Gastello Peak (4350 m). On the slopes of the Karakol gorge, sea buckthorn, barberry, wild rose, mountain flowers and, of course, dense meadow grass grow. With increasing height, they are replaced by spruce and juniper forests, and subalpine and alpine landscapes complete the composition. The fauna of the gorge is also interesting: ibex, roe deer, lynx, wild boar, snow leopards, wolves, bears, golden eagles live here.
