(born to teenage parents in korea who left him outside of a church and nameless) born to a black american non-profit director mother and a 1st generation korean american financial analyst father in the spring of 1991, on april fool’s day in los angeles, ca. he boasts being the best big brother in the world to his kid sister, elisha “boo,” the best cook in his apartment, the oldest hyung, and boyfriend to ivy mae montgomery. currently he works as an event coordinator for the manhattan based company, kseoul world agency, which brings all the korean entertainment (and food) to international fans (srsly, they’re one of the reasons for kcon ny). he used to be extremely close to his family up until 3 years ago, when he secretly discovered his adoption. now he doesn’t quite know what to do and it’s ripping up his insides.

“Sachiel? If anyone else had asked, I would just refer to him as a colleague or a principal member of our squad. People often perceive him as a cold and calculated man, armored from head to toe, but... I know it isn’t all as it seems. He came from a difficult beginning and his path through life was from one hard decision to another, with tragedy and betrayal as his close companions. It was understandable then that someone so frequently imperiled would be closed off. Justifiably so aloof that no one had even seen his face in years.

Yet, when I broke into his bunker to study his work, he didn’t gun me down. Someone so purportedly violent, I wonder what it was he thought in that moment still. I was in awe of him. It was like seeing theory laid out into reality, a harmonious blend of magic, machine, and man. I knew both the magic and the machine, but the man was much an enigma to me for many months. We became collaborators with similar interests, both working to scale the limits of our understanding. Each time I came to a plateau, he was there to lend insight that there was more to see, just above the clouds. Still it was only magic and machine.

Sachiel isn’t much for words, even now. Action describes his feelings better. To the people who have the honor of being his friend, he is generous with his time and energy. I came to understand this later, when without fail, whenever I needed him, he was there. He is a man that men tremble before, not solely because of the sheer violence he is capable of unleashing, but because he is relentless. I would not be here today as I am now, if not for him.

I don’t know when it specifically began that I started to see him so differently than the image he outwardly portrayed. When he began to take off his mask around me. When my heart began to race whenever his tone of voice changed as we spoke alone. I just know that when he smiles at me, no matter what difficult decision we face, everything will be alright. I suppose then, to put it simply, he is the most important man in my life.”
