Impression now - paaaaaaaaaain. i spent a while resenting him but his relationship with tahiri is so good, and his confusion and fear over the legacy of his name is good, his guilt over chewie and determination to make his life matter, and his final sacrifice.............. a book has never made me cry so hard in my life, i was comatose for about an hour afterward, this permanent fracture of the skywalker-solo family and knowing how deeply it affected everyone and that none of them would ever be the same going forward ://///////////

Unpopular opinion - more tahiri than anakin but it is absolute bullshit that they reduced her, 10 years later, entirely to her childhood love for anakin. that she was never able to grow past it and move on to the point that jacen would use it to make her fall uuuuuuuugh

Usually it was Anakin who snuck out from their bed when thememories and guilt pressed too heavily on his mind – but he rolled over, fullyexpecting to embrace his wife in a pleasant drowsy haze, and was greeted withonly the disappointingly cold and empty sheets. He groaned, one hand reachingout as he roused himself to consciousness, in order to truly confirm Padmé wasnot in the bed next to him.

He ran a hand through his hair and then ran his hand overhis face before he hauled himself from the warmth and padded out to go findher.

He knew right where she’d be, of course. Sitting on thecouch, staring out over the city-planet’s busy horizon, her hands curledprotectively around her belly. It’s warm enough that she doesn’t even seem to needthe thin blanket draped across the back of the couch, but Anakin picks it upanyways and drapes it over her shoulders – and is rewarded with a tired smile,her dark brown eyes lighting up when she sees him.

“Hey. You should be in bed, Senator.”

“Hey,” she says, and it’s strangely informal, like they’replayacting being casual nobodies when in reality – well, reality doesn’t haveto exist yet, not in the gray-and-blues of the witching hour. “I couldn’tsleep.”

He quirks her a grin and nods, “I can see that. The littleone keeping you up?”

As always, every time they talk about their child, her facelights up. She shakes her head. “No, just… I’m worried. And tired. As always,”she gives a short laugh, and without a word Anakin pulls her back into hischest, leaning against the back of the couch.
