for fanon problems-
there are very few people doing the bloodymary crossover right and I'm not saying that just because it's not how I remember it happening. in fact, I barely remember it at all! yeah no it's just that the popular tropes are like. really racist. "Simon thinks Grace is an angel" like do we not see how weird this gets if it's treated like a normal character dynamic. do we not see how fucking weird it is to have the character of color worshipping the white man. I've seen people defend this shit as not racist, too!!
like I'm not saying you Can't work with this. I'm not saying there aren't ways to do this without being weird and racist(like for example treating it as the religious psychosis it would most likely be) but still I'm like. maybe can we stop writing that trope like it's just a normal thing thanks.
I'm also not a fan of how overly sexualized I am within the fandom. like yeah okay I get it; there Was a fan service moment in the actual movie; whatever. but I WOULD appreciate it if the fandom could like. idk. use the ship to maybe explore the concept of non-allonormative relationships? especially given Grace being commonly headcanoned as aroace. like this ship feels like the perfect reason to go "okay so what effects would each of these characters' respective sexualities and world experiences have on their relationship" but no. they just have to be horny about it.
and at the end of this I Would like to say that I very much support doing whatever you want forever. have fun with your fandom! I don't really care what you're doing as long as it isn't hurting people! I just really wish the fandom was less weird and racist n shit with its tropes because like. yeah no that IS hurting people. by normalizing the racism. please think before you use tropes, thanks.
-Simon Iron Lung fictive(also from Project Hail Mary)(#π²)
(ps there are definitely other tropes that weird me out but I can't think of them right now; I might come back later to complain about other popular fandom tropes but for now this is what I've got)
