Well funny you should say that- since I am in the middle of doing a rewrite of my first MLB series. Enter The Redheaded Heroine series. So one thing to know about me is that I’m a very slow writer. And I procrastinate a whole lot, I get into other phases for so long and forget to write for this series. As well as the other salt series I have. And even with that I have all the basics written down I just need to write it. But with this Rewrite I’ve basically looked through all the pieces I had previously and just remodelled some of them. Like I’ve chosen to do a lot of redesigns of my redesigns/from the show. For example, I’ve already redone previously named Rosina, Crisono and Hernandez’s redesigns and currently trying to finish off the whole class plus a few extras. I’ve also completed the Kwami designs, and how their weapons/powers differ from the show. The main reason I wanted to restart my fic was that I had simply not been as into salt as I was at the start of making it. As I had already wanted everyone to get redemption I thought it over and knew it was best to do a revamp.

Since I know this is just a random anon ask that gets asked to every major blog, I’ll still answer it.

But yeah, most takes I already see as just overexaggerated and go along with the flow. It doesn’t really matter anyway, the whole point of reading a ml salt fic is because its exaggerated. I don’t read it because I 100% think Adrien or Alya would act either cruel/abusive to Marinette, I read it for exaggeration how far pettiness would go, what people write.

I don’t think Adrien would be abusive or stand by if Marinette was getting beaten up in certain fics, or stand by as the ‘class’ tear into Marinette’s sketchbook, he’s naïve but he wouldn’t stay put like that. And I do think the ‘high road advice’ would only go so far, if he really saw how bad it was affecting Marinette, for instance if the lies did get worse, I do think he would step in and tell everyone and he would apologise to Marinette for it. He’s naïve and too forgiving to everyone to not know when he’s getting walked all over, but I don’t think he’s as bad as some fics say.

I honestly really just want more from him and his character. Yes he can still be quiet and kind and happy as Adrien, coming out of his shell around his friends and clueless about social norms, and as Chat Noir he can still joke and be funny and a partner to Ladybug and vice versa, but I wanna see him be more than just the jokester, or just there for his Cataclysm, I want him to go on development that he can be more, to take the job of being the one of the only two heroes in Paris a little more seriously. 

Like I do get that he’s meant for comic relief, but it only goes for so far cause it gets boring when he gets captured or hit by the Akuma for the umpteenth time, where it seems he always relies on the cure and Ladybug to save the day and think of himself as able to sacrifice himself because she can fix it. Its not a good mindset and if the writers could expand on that and actually have them as an equal Team it would be good, but they frame him as always being in the right and it does get annoying when he is pushy and sometimes unreliable in battles, when times have shown Ladybug could realistically do plans herself at points, they always tell us Chat is important to the Team but were always able to figure it out without him, and that kinda sucks cause it does seem he can be easily replaceable, and if he was just a bit more competent it would seem fair. Cause at the moment, if I was in the ml universe and I had to wait for either of the 2 heroes to save me from being turned to stone or flattened, I’d really hope Ladybug would come get me cause I’d have far more faith in her.

No, a lot of people are able to see his behaviour, and I know a few people have called him out, names I can’t remember but he is being called out, but it's definitely a huge double standard. If Lila lies, mainly for attention, its evil, its monstrous, she’s a villain. If Chat lies, for his love for Ladybug, its romantic, it proves his devotion for his love for Ladybug, its charming. And it’s so hypocritical it hurts. Or even when Marinette lies, either for having to become Ladybug or anything else the narrative does everything to show that its wrong to lie, even if you have a secret identity to be a superhero! But like even then Marinette will be heavily criticized for doing something, that some else has already done. In the first episode when Alya pretends to be like a magical unicorn for Manon it was cute and sweet. When Marinette pretended to be one of Santa’s little helpers for Chris, its apparently her fault for getting him Akumatized, and that was around the time when I wasn’t in the salt fandom and had no idea about the problems of the show and even then, I thought that was so weird.

As well as the show saying, ‘all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing’ at the start, only to say ‘if Adrien and Marinette are the only ones to know the truth then it's ok and they’re the good guys, it doesn’t matter that Lila is still lying’ but when she does get called out I’m gonna bet people are just going to blame Marinette for not giving evidence fast enough as people coddle Adrien because he didn’t really know what’s happened, which is how the writers will get around it.

The show wants to say Adrien is a boy who is socially awkward and has never had a friend before, besides Chloé, and doesn’t get stuff about school. And yet the show also turns to him as this wise person with this advice that the audience can look up to as a mentor or something and its like. ??? Pick some trait for him.

If they wanted to keep him as this sheltered boy, his advice could’ve still been the same, however, Marinette didn’t have to agree with him, but because of her ‘love’ she must agree with everything that she says because the narrative tells us that you can never disagree with your partner. Or in Chat’s case, you can get told no, throw a tantrum, runoff, wait until someone Ladybug says sorry, and carry on like nothing ever happened.

The writers have shown they prefer Adrien as every time he messes up, something bigger comes up so Ladybug has to forgive him so they work on the bigger picture or he has a bunch of sad moments that the audience feels sorry for him and villainise the one who made him sad, who was probably in the right in the first place.

Meanwhile, if Marinette makes a mistake,

But when they get called out they don’t admit it they just say, we have a biracial protag, isn’t that enough?

In short, yes the lessons are incredibly hypocritical because plenty of the fandom prefers sunshine child to our protag because he’s being abused and deserves all the love he can get, so they double down on their protections of Adrien and can’t bear when people show his flaws.

While it sounds like a cool idea I personally stopped watching MLB after Season 4 and only a few episodes of Season 5 so I'm unsure of how everything is playing out and I'm perfectly fine just staying in the realm of Season 3.

So that Lying Prologue was just a random name I chose for the start. the next is labelled underneath it called like First Meetings Aren't Normal and so on till the 15th one, but I will want to say I have discontinued that series due to idea changes but right now I'm trying to do a revamp of everything. I don't have a date for it but I'm still working on it.
