The rabbit is still around, yes, and he is still very rude to me. However, over the years, i have gotten better at... ignoring him? It is still very annoying and he still affects me sometimes but I am more firm in my desires. Who I am, what I want, who I love, and other things of the sort have become much harder to negate. Especially with Daphne around to remind me when it is Especially Difficult, or when I have a bad day. I also understand who he is and that he exists simply to bring out the worst of my psyche. I know that he is normal, and while the rabbit is quite extreme at times, he is not an accurate representation of myself.

I have also realized everyone else has their own "rabbit". When i started talking to Daphne about the rabbit, she started talking to me about her own nervous thoughts. She has affectionately called hers a bat. It is something that shows up when she least needs it and shrieks in short bursts. Through the day it may stare her down or chirp a little, but it isnt until the dead of night when it bombards her. I understand the sentiment, she sometimes will shake me awake to check on the children, and its because that calms the bats. I enjoy that euphemism. I usually dont like metaphors or such things because they are confusing and it is much better to say what you mean. However, this makes it easier to talk about, and it is easy for me to understand and explain. Eventually we will teach the girls about this, and they will get to name their own fears. Maybe we can teach Mary of this. She might find some comfort.

In short, the rabbit is still here and he is still an "asshole" but i have my ways to deal with him and i have people to help me keep him tucked away.
