Siggi's offered me a job when I was in college. They had just entered the market, which at the time had been plagued by tart Greek yogurts. The clean label caught my eye at a bodega on campus so I bought a few. After a few bites I was hooked, so I went to their website and read their story. I really appreciated that their product was so high in protein and didn't come with all the aspartame, sucralose, gelatin, preservatives and other crap they pump into most yogurts. I also thought it was cool they were dishing up Icelandic style yogurt (Iceland's cool, right??!). But still, most of all, it was the taste that I connected with. My mouth didn't pucker when I ate it and it was thick. It was a lot smoother than most other products and their coconut flavor stole my heart (good fats, guys). They were a little bit expensive so I figured I'd just get a job working for them and that would take care of my yogurt supply. My logic went: if I really believe in this product, enough that I would want to work for the company after a few bites, I could probably make a solid employee. So I emailed them about a marketing coordinator position I saw on their website. I went in later that week to interview and they sent me home with an entire cardboard box of Siggis yogurt! I carried that box of yogurt so proudly across 14th street, back to my dorm. A few days later they offered me the position. I was flattered but I had to decline their offer because of scheduling conflicts. I still think about that opportunity and where I would be today if I had taken the job. Probably on a dairy farm in Wisconsin milking cows with Siggi. (Thatβs where his farm is. I still keep up with their company culture.) Β Β
Anyways, give these a try. I like to buy the plain version and add my own fruit and a drizzle of honey or even slivered almonds if you want to feel super elevated. It gives the snack a little more depth. In this photo I've obviously done sliced strawberries, but any berry, kiwi, mango, pomegranate seed will do. Unless dairy gives you such bad irritable bowel syndrome that you can't even walk, and you are crouching behind dumpsters shitting your pants, I think some dairy is just fine. I can at least vouch for Siggis, it's worth it.
