The tag  sushitober2018 is so people can either block this, or keep tabs on it in the future. Couldn’t think of anything better then sushi.

Long story short - - yes I do.

Why though? Why do I think it’s okay to separate the art from the artist?

Let’s look at an example. Johnny Depp has a very ‘interesting’ life outside of his acting. Let’s say you just watched Pirates of the Caribbean (first movie that popped into my head) you’d think, “man I loved Jack Sparrow!” - you would have no idea Johnny’s life outside of acting unless you looked it up.

It’s a good movie right? He played the character good right? Then why let his personal life ruin it or the characters he plays for you?

You shouldn’t, and the same thing goes for art and artists.

There’s some artists who poorly present themselves online with controversial, political, religious or just frowned-upon views on their art blog but… their art is good right? You like the way the art looks correct? 

You wouldn’t tell unless you looked through their blog.

Fanart of ships is an example for artists. You can like the ship, you like the art they produced, but you don’t have to like the person who created it. You also don’t have to commission/financially support the artist either because of their views or how they present themselves online. 

You can just like their work that they produce for free and move on.

This ties into how I also encourage my friends, and my my fellow artist followers if they so choose, to keep their views (for the most part, it’s hard with fandoms now and shipping) away from their art blog if they want to ‘get serious’ because in the society we know today people are getting fired for these views that if they are too negative or can cause a backlash.

So what’s to say that the way you present yourself on your blog can hinder you from getting commissions? 

I’ve seen mobs get on creator’s (specifically artists) asses for their views, and shame them to the point they have to delete their account and start all over. It can ruin a person.

So if you want, you can separate someone from their work. People should learn how to do that.
