EVERYONE IS HAVING A ROUGH TIME AND CATCHING THEIR BREATHS AFTER THAT, BUT THE WAY DOTSUHON JUST FUCKING CRUMPLE LIKE A WET TISSUE THE INSTANT THE SHOW IS OVER

sasara looks like he can barely stand without dropping to his knees,,, rei composed himself almost instantly and rosho pulled it together right at the end (IM SO PROUD OF ROSHO BTW THE BROS WERE BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF THEM, IT LOOKED ROUGH OUT THERE, BUT!! NO STAGE FRIGHT FREEZES OR ANXIETY ATTACKS!!!) 

I am by no means a theorist and I don’t look into every detail but I do believe that everyone's experience with something like a book, show or movie is very valid because we all see it differently.

Saying that, please know this is my opinion and if you don’t like it I am fine with that. All I ask is that you don’t go harassing me about it. Feel free to give your thoughts in the replies.

I believe that Star vs The Forces of Evil is an okay show, easily a 7.5/10 for me at the current moment if I had to plant a rating on it. The animation makes up most of the points. SVTFOE had great concepts and the overall plot seemed to be nifty, ‘magical girl goes to earth and learns about all the concepts there, returns home and not only learns about her family but learns on how to apply what shes learned about earth to her own home to make everything better for everyone’.

It was a good idea, but it wasn’t executed well at all. When romance started to poke it’s head into the action-adventure it got a bit more than messy. Shipping has taken the forefront of the show and it never should have been. Star Butterfly has been in more romantic scenarios then most will be in their whole teenagehood. This has been in the span of 2 years, maybe less, mind you.

I’ll go into Star, Tom and Marco now. This isn’t meant to attack anyone who likes them, go ahead, but this is my hot take on them.

Star - I can never support her as a protagonist ever. She has done some questionable things that make her not a very good person and a bad role model and as a protag of a children's show that’s not good. She kissed Marco in Booth Buddies, one of the controversial episodes besides the newer ones that came out today (May 12). The situation in Booth Buddies was bad and they should have never kissed under that situation. Both of them blaming it on the Goblin dude using him as a scapegoat for such a bad action.

I can fully understand her crush on Marco during season 1. You live with a boy and have grown around him for around a year, it’s hard not to fall for him, but as she moved on it became clear he likes someone else. At that point it would have been a good idea for her to learn to move on, showing that it is okay to not end up with someone you crush on which I think is a good lesson that needs to be taught more.

On discord servers, in vent channels, the main issues that always come up is that someone couldn’t get their crush to like them and that they are so downtrodden because of it.

Would have been a lesson worth learning.

Star also has a lot of unnecessary stress on her in season 4. Eclipsa needs either hand off the ‘crown’ to Star or grow up because she is relying on a 14-16 year old to help her run a kingdom. Eclipsa is about 25-35 in terms of age, so she should be able to do that. Her being socially awkward has run too long and as someone who has a more important duty ahead of them, Eclipsa has to move on and go past it because she is stressing out Star and making Star deal with stuff she shouldn’t deal with.

Star handed over the crown to Eclipsa, her family has moved on and Star should have done the same.

Now, Tomstar. People complain that it is a toxic relationship but compared to Starco… it’s not. If you want to claim it’s toxic, do so because of Star not Tom. As a person Tom has grown from a wilting seed to a full grown tree. Tom is the most developed person in this show yet time and time again he is screwed over - look at him now. He is stuck in the magic dimension while Star is on Marco.

I was told that, no, Tom and Star haven’t broken up they are on break.

Yet look at them now, it has been less than 24 hours in the show and Star has moved on from Tom to Marco and that’s not right. She told him she wasn’t ready, but she lied to him. What do you think he will do when he finds out? She can basically count him out of her life. He will never be able to trust her again and as one of the more developed people in the show he has that right.

Despite the multiple red flags with Star he tried to make it work. Despite her kissing Marco behind his back, despite her not telling him, he wanted it to work. By the end of it he got so fed up.

He really does deserve better.

Like I said, I can’t get behind Star as a protagonist because she sets a bad example for growing teens.

Moving on to Marco he did the opposite of Tom. While he grew Marco shrunk. Marco became one of my most hated characters within this show and many others. I thought he would have been a great character and during season 1 I shipped him and Star, then him and Jackie. I thought his crush on Jackie was adorable and I was so happy that he got to date her.

Then after what, one episode, he threw Jackie away because he couldn’t let Star go. It would have been a good send off for Marco to stay on Earth and be with Jackie while Star moves on and has Tom at her side either as her friend or boyfriend. At least with the Mewni drama Tom had a reason for being there because that is his home that’s going to be destroyed.

Janna has also turned into the Marco this season, season 4, where she has no real reason to be on Mewni besides filler because people wanted to see more of her. She’s also a character I do not like because she is unaware of how she treats others and it sends a message to people watching that if you have someone who is like that around you that it's okay behavior when it’s not.

Speaking of Marco, let’s talk about the drama that everyone has been talking about.

Starco shouldn’t have happened in this show. It is unfair to the people who genuinely ship Starco because it has happened in such a dirty and scummy way. It would have been best if either Tomstar stayed a thing or if they all just stayed friends.

Booth Buddies Marco and Star kissed behind Toms back and blamed it on the globin who acted as their scapegoat, as I said earlier. Marco told Tom, even though it wasn’t his place to do so but I would have liked to see it on screen. I would have liked to see him and Tom talking it out. Star never told Tom and never was going to, they all knew that.

Like I said, Star told Tom that she wasn’t ready to be in the relationship any longer and he said he will give her all the time she wants. Did they break up there? Not really, it didn’t feel like a break up. Tom was still hanging out with them. Star ended up kissing Marco moving on way to fast. What she did wasn’t mentally healthy and as I said it’s not fair to the people who ship Starco. If the crew wanted Starco to be canon they should have broke off Tomstar earlier or never had Tomstar to begin with.
