One more request! I just gotta get the idea down 'cause I could never do this on my own. Could you do a Ruben Patterson x girlfriend!reader where Ruben tells her about Shootfighting with Nick and she starts getting mad at him because it's dangerous, but he's doing it for their apartment, their dojo, and for her. but she doesn't believe him and just gets more mad at him and tells him to not, but Ruben tries to reason with her. Anyways, you can do the end if you want. Just an idea. Ty, girl, you're amazing!

The moment Ruben finished explaining what he and Nick were planning, you stared at him in disbelief.
You stood up from the couch and crossed your arms.
"You're talking about getting into a ring with people who could seriously hurt you."
"Ruben, that's exactly what it's like!"
He rubbed the back of his neck.
The apartment suddenly felt much smaller.
You paced across the room.
"You could get seriously injured."
Ruben's expression softened.
"Then why are you doing it?"
The question hung between you.
For a moment, he didn't answer.
Then he gestured around the apartment.
He pointed toward the small office where stacks of bills sat waiting.
"I'm trying to fix that."
"By getting yourself hurt?"
"I'm trying to build something for us."
The words caught you off guard.
"I'm doing this because I want us to have something better."
"Stop saying it's for me."
The hurt in your voice surprised him.
"I don't care about the apartment."
"I don't need a bigger place."
"I don't need more money."
Your eyes were shining now.
"I need you to come home."
Ruben's expression softened immediately.
The anger drained out of him.
"What if something happens?"
You hated how small your voice sounded.
"What if one day you don't walk back through that door?"
Ruben moved closer until he was standing right in front of you.
That honesty made it worse.
For a moment, neither of you spoke.
Finally, Ruben reached for your hands.
"I can't promise nothing will happen."
"But I can promise I'm not doing this because I want to get hurt."
His thumbs brushed over your knuckles.
"I'm doing it because I want a future."
The anger in your chest wavered.
Ruben gave your hands a gentle squeeze.
A reluctant smile tugged at your lips.
You finally let out a quiet laugh.
The tension between you eased.
"I'm still not happy about this."
"I still think it's a terrible idea."
"I definitely know that."
Despite yourself, you smiled back.
Then you stepped forward and wrapped your arms around him.
Ruben immediately hugged you back.
Neither of you had won the argument.
But at least now you understood each other.
And for the moment, that was enough.
