#kudo

I don't remember why, but I wasn't able to watch the first episode right after it came out, so I watched it together with episode two some time later and oh God was I tweaking.

It was 10 p.m. when I finished episode two, and I was giggling, walking in circles, ready to piss myself from excitement, 'cause I saw all my favorite characters: Yoichi, Kudo, Bakugo, All For One. I kept texting my friend about how I love all of them and how great the fights are. Poor girl never even watched MHA or any other anime, she was just happy to listen to me 🥹🥹 I went on for two to three hours just fanboy-ing over the show. And I kept mentioning how the next episodes are going to include one of my favorite parts of the manga (it didn't, it was in ep. 4).

Anyway, here are my two mha ships:

While I have a lot of different issues with it, what I feel the need to complain about most is how it absolutely fucked up chapter nr 408.

I'll start with what most likely is a pet peeve, but the scene of Yoichi's death wasn't well executed at all. Especially the pace of it.

Everyone seemed so... unhurried — Kudo and Yoichi were running very slowly, and while I understand that Yoichi was unable to run as fast as the soldiers, why was the gap between them and the rest of the group this big? It isn't like that in the manga.

☝☝ Look!! It's so much more dynamic, and the other soldiers are still visible while in the anime they ran much further, until they simply disappeared!!

And when Kudo fell to the ground, not only did Bruce appear out of nowhere, but he was also so chill about pulling his leader up, like their arch enemy wasn't a few meters away. And as he did so, in a normal pace, the pieces of Yoichi's clothing were frozen in time. His hand, too. It only started falling a moment later, and straight down.

Yoichi's blood splashing Kudo's and All For One's faces came from a whole different angle than it should, too. Horikoshi, take your physics classes!!

Next thing, I simply find them ugly... 🥹 Some panels were drawn and animated very well — like when Yoichi is around twelve and All For One had just murdered the Iridescent Baby — but others look really funky.

There is something wrong with his eyes, but I can't name it.

Please, tell me you see the difference! He looks like a thumb. 💔

He looks much more shaken in the manga, and I just like how much more contrast there is. The anime looks muddy.

Now, the thing that annoys me most — studio Bones completely erased the fact that Yoichi spent two months with the Resistance. It wasn't mentioned at all. Because of that, some fans who only watched the anime bash KudoIchi and its shippers because, apparently, they only knew one another for a few minutes. They also call Kudo crying illogical.

(No hate to any author who may have written so!!!)

That is, because I'm sure that All For One wouldn't just allow a group to legally speak against him. Much less personally mess with him this much. I see the Resistance as a conspiracy group against a powerful politician, working in secret. Its members didn't live every hour of the day as soldiers — they were also everyday people, walking by the Demon Lord's supports on the streets.

Also, what if Kudo later wanted to return to the sewers and give Yoichi a proper burial, but was unable to? That'd be pretty sad.
