Have we established that I love angst and giving characters chronic pain? Cause I adore angst and giving characters chronic pain, and I especially adore when those things can combine. So, without further adieu:
The Wave Mission: Shisui-Sensei Edition!
In canon, Kakashi passes out after the fight with Zabuza from overusing the sharingan. Shisui, being a native sharingan-haver, wouldn't have that issue, but we (I) want a way to incapacitate him the way Kakashi was for funsies.
Also canon: Sasuke describes Susanoo as feeling like every nerve was alight with pain.
What happens when damaged (asleep, if you will) nerves suddenly get lit up after being dormant for some time?
Shisui, regardless of how he survived, has had an eye ripped from his head - the optic nerve was not just severed but ripped and frayed - and since even the best medic in the world (Tsunade, who had at least been in the village at some point during Shisui's recovery regardless of timeline/au) could only do so much against badly damage nerves, Shisui still experiences chronic pain as a result of having that eye torn out.
Now imagine, if you would, Shisui, who has never exactly liked having the mangekyou nor its extremely manipulative technique to begin with, not being overly concerned with the fact that channeling too much chakra through that eye (aka mangekyou activation level) causes him significant pain now. He rarely used it in the first place, so why concern himself with such a side effect? If anything, it gave him a great excuse not to use it period.
Now imagine Zabuza using the deadly mist technique (or whatever it was called; its been a looong time since I actually watched this arc) and appearing dangerously close to Shisui's cute little genin with a very big, very deadly sword. Shisui does not think and activates Susanoo entirely to protect the kids from the aforementioned very big and very deadly sword.
(He's more or less known Sasuke since the brat was born, and Fugaku and Mikoto adopted Naruto the second the Third Hokage 'retired'. He's only truly known Sakura as an independent individual for a few months, but he sees something familiar in her. They will not be dying on his watch.)
(More importantly, he was once a scared, wounded genin with two dead teammates and a sensei refusing to let herself die before he got to safety. He'd be damned if he let them go through anything even remotely close to what he did during the war.)
The deadened/damaged nerves in his leg and eye flare up in pain along with everything else, but he manages to compartmentalizes it long enough to deal with the threat to the children (and technically the client too, he supposes).
He still has the sharingan active when Zabuza is "killed" and only deactivates it once the threat is gone and he no longer senses their chakra within his sensing range... only to scream and clutch his eye as the formerly ignored pain suddenly hits full force now that he's no longer being fueled by adrenaline.
(He doesn't remember passing out and only realizes he did after he awakes some time later in an unfamiliar room with a still cold cloth draped over his bad eye and three anxious genin in various states of wakefulness surrounding him as moonlight peeks in through the window. Looking over at them, he supposes the pain was worth it... at least until they finally notice he's awake and start shouting.)
How about this then: do you love Shisui?
I love her in the sense of a very close best friend. You would do anything with her as much as you could, however, a terrible circumstance occurred and you may never see her again.
So, it's fair enough to say I miss her. A lot.
starter rp for @shisui-uchiha-ravenheart AU story.
As usual, the lecture hall doors opened precisely at the appointed hour. He never had to ask for silence. It fell naturally the moment he entered.
Orochimaru stepped inside with measured composure, a slim folder of teaching materials tucked beneath his arm. The sound of the heels of his polished shoes echoed softly through the room until he came to a stop beside his desk.
The students knew his reputation well. He was a demanding professor, merciless toward mediocrity. He valued refinement. He valued eloquence. Above all, he valued excellence.
Modern au Itachi who is really into making top down pixel rpgs from scratch.
He doesn't play them.
He just loves the thrill of knowing there objectively has to be a solution when he runs into an issue.
He's sitting at his laptop for three hours hand twitching as he tries to figure out why the player png keeps floating off screen.
And the 30 seconds where he uses the test button to confirm the issue is gone afterwards is the best part of his day.
He's slouched over his computer, brows furrowed, unblinking for three days straight and Shisui is on his bed like wow. Wow he's having so much fun. Good for him.
