How Many Times Could You Fall in Love with Me?
Hands shaking, Smoothing of skirts, Heartbeat racing. Gentle rustling of a necklace, This could be it. This could be it. She could be here. He could be here.
A door sliding open, A door sliding in. Gentle breaths hitching. A wide eyed turn to him. Eyes meeting, The most handsome eye color. Violet and Chestnut shining. Her Chestnut irises shining with joy.
As tears well up, Tears springing to her eyes. Trailing down cheeks and chins. Sobs bursting forward at the sight. Breathing hitched as a small murmur is heard Of him. “Marin?” An exuberant nod before flinging herself towards his arms.
Grasping her dress in his shaking hands, Grasping his face Pulling her to him As if any moment would take him from her. As if she would fade away in a moment. His worn eyes stare deep into hers, “Are you real?” As if she wasn’t actually there.
Bringing his hands up to mirror hers “yes! Yes, I am. I’m right here, Link.” He holds her gentle face with worry and stress, jumping to reassure. Like it’s the whole world to him. And yet his calloused hands on her cheeks, “I missed you.” Bring her to tears once more.
“I-I thought you were gone.” For no one but her Fiancé “I thought I had killed you” Would have those bone deep callouses. “I destroyed the whole island.” But where is his smile, his joy, his exuberance. “How are you here, my beloved?” Has the world stripped him of these?
Resting his weary head on her shoulder, “My dear husband-to-be, we are fine.” He smells her sweet perfume, “I thought you were gone forever once” Smelling of the island hibiscuses, “But my father reminded me that He is weak to her and her love. You are so much stronger than a dream.”
Feeling her guide his eyes to her hand, “For only someone living could have given me this.” To the ring resting on her finger, “For only you could know my engagement ring.” The one he had gifted to her. “With the most beautiful gems that shine like the sea.” The strongest of his rings to protect their love. “Only you can make me the happiest woman.”
A kiss to remember each other by,
A kiss to grieve the time they lost.
A kiss to show their affection.
A kiss between two loves.
Nothing could stop these two.
Not even an Odyssey.
