If I'm allowed to shout one of my more boomer complaints into the void for a minute("boomer", I'm fucking 27), I fucking hate that Instagram and TikTok became so popular. Not because of some dumbass reason like "Oh they're creatively bankrupt" or "Oh their humor sucks" because, yeah, Youtube was like that well before this shit - we get good stuff from all of these platforms despite that.
No, MY problem is that up until people started using TikTok (and arguably to a lesser extent stuff like Instagram Reels or Stories or whatever it was called), the consensus was that vertical video sucked.
There were entire apps that tried to sell the idea of Vertical TV that you could watch while taking a shit, and nobody liked them because nobody liked vertical video! Those apps crashed and burned, and even vertical Youtube videos coming out around that time were heckled because nobody liked vertical video. Then all of a sudden, they're EVERYWHERE.
This is such a me problem, I know. But it irritates me to no end, and I cannot explain why. I just don't like the concept of vertical video.
And while I'm making complaints, if content creators aren't going to put in the effort to caption their videos properly, they need to not caption them at all. You know exactly what you were saying when you recorded it, using the auto-captions as a substitute for actual captions when you said something completely different than what your captions say just makes you look lazy.
