One thing I like about black haze is how characters react when shicmuon is with rood. Or, when people doubt the black magician’s identity, but then they see shicmuon talk to him/fight him, and suddenly they are convinced he is blackie XD 

Here are some scenes that I love:

Chapter 85

Chapter 134: Context: Shicmuon (disguised as prince yumehen) finds rood. Ren thinks he is attracting unnecessary attention (as rood was hiding his identity as the black magician, and prince yumehen has no reason to visit rood nor does he knows him. The tower will definitely find it suspicious). Shicmuon almost ruined the mission. If people discover he is shicmuon, then they’ll know rood is the black magician. Still, this scene is funny jaja. Anyway, can we talk about how shicmuon is always able to find rood? Is it due to his powers? Or is there another reason?

Chapter 187: “That man really is the black magician”. What I like about this scene is that his majesty had already figured out the black magician was the man wearing the association robe, but duke nuadly only confirms/seems convinced after seeing shicmuon and rood fight/talk.

Well, I think everyone in this fandom knows shicmuon is obsessed with blackie. The reason I made this post, is because it caught my attention how shicmuon reacts when he is with rood or when he leaves him (or more specifically, what interests me are his eyes and his shocked expression in certain occasions).

A few examples:

This is after dio shows his true form in helios and shicmuon noticed rood is not there anymore. 

This is after rood left him, the first time they met (iel’s flashback). 

Now this is how he looks after someone mentions the black magician:

Lanoste, of all people, had to use rood’s name in order to have shicmuon go to helios as a student. Lanoste is his father, and he is quite stubborn himself, so the fact that he was forced to manipulate/make shicmuon believe the black magician was there for him to go, is very interesting for me. 

Here, he only got interested in the mission that was given to him after being told it was to rescue rood. Supposedly, if we believe shicmuon, he only wants to fight blackie and to kill him. Yet, he went out of his way to save him. Heck, he only accepted the mission because he heard his name. I don’t believe him when he says he wants to kill him.

For some people, shicmuon is probably a boring character whose only role is to obsess over rood. I personally think there is much more to this obsession than what we know. Well, that’s the reason I made this post in the first place. Why does shicmuon seem so surprised/shocked/I’ll even say lonely (?) after rood disappears? (he is also pissed, but I want to focus on his surprised face. Anyway, him being mad that rood left him makes more sense than him being shocked, since if rood isn’t there he can’t fight him, so of course he would be furious. But why shocked?) As I said before, this is probably just me, but why does he looks so lonely?

In my opinion, there is more to it, than him liking rood just because he is strong. Sure, that’s what first attracted him. I think that rood was the first person to match shicmuon’s strength and that’s what caught his attention at first. But, in several occasions, we saw how shicmuon, in his own weird way, seems to care for blackie. He seems to know what he is thinking, and he is the first one to notice if rood isn’t feeling well.

The way he looks at rood here. After meredith tells rood: “The place you belong is right here” (chapter 143), shicmuon kicks him and later says: “What. Are you saying this is the place he belongs to? According to whom?”. Several times, he will repeat this to meredith. He seems to hate it when someone wants to force rood to do something he doesn’t want to. I wonder if this is related to eperia? I mean, the tower is the reason why eperia will die and the tower also wanted to use shicmuon for their own plans. Maybe that’s why shicmuon reacts this way? Or maybe, although he doesn’t want to admit it, he is attached to rood and he cares about him, so seeing someone force him to do something he is unwilling to, bothers him?

Look at rood’s eyes, please! He seems so surprised!! Shicmuon said the words rood needs/wants to hear the most.

Shicmuon cares about rood, that much is obvious to me. He listens to him when needed. At least, when it involves rood. He doesn’t listen when rood asks him to help the students.

For example, there is the time when rood threatened to kill shicmuon if he didn’t stop attacking him (since the students were in danger and he couldn’t focus on the enemy if shicmuon kept attacking him) :

And then shicmuon actually started teaming up with rood and stopped fighting. Why make that face?? Why not smile since rood is finally willing to fight him? Why not being pissed off that rood threatened him? etc. If anyone else had said this to him, he would have attacked them for sure and then provoked them. Here, he decided to obey rood and stop what he was doing.

It’s even the same flower. Could have been any flower. But it’s that one. Just. Moving on, I’m holding my breath that after the flashback arc, we’ll have Lanoste and Shic directly talking about the parallels between Rood and Eperia, because I don’t believe such a long flashback was there only for the King/Liltopaz story. I’m sorry for this monsterous ask, haha, it’s just that BH isn’t big on tumblr and I’m not very fond of the fandom for BH elsewhere. (p2)

I’m so glad to find another shicrood fan in tumblr!! Before starting, I feel the need to apologize, since this is going to be long :p 

To be honest, what made me officially say: “yes, I ship this” was lanoste’s flashback. Like, I always thought it was interesting how shicmuon reacted to rood, and how rood (although reluctantly) depended on shicmuon to help him defeat the enemies. They are/were both ‘equals’ (before rood awakened as the demon king). It’s just that, when I saw how lanoste/eperia behaved when they were together, and after rereading the scenes with shicmuon and rood, it was impossible for me not to notice how similar they were. That’s when I thought: “wait, why is this married couple and shicrood’s relationship so similar??” and I realized that I could no longer ignore this ship. Too many coincidences and what made it better, was that those hints were established very early in the series. Lanoste first talked about shicmuon chasing rood in chapter 57 and considering that there are already 223 chapters, I’ll say this is quite early. The author also planified introducing eperia many chapters ago, since we saw how lanoste had flashblacks of eperia. So, it can’t be a coincidence. The author did it on purpose, but why? 

Eperia got interested in lanoste after learning he was the one who defeated all those monsters. Who did the same thing? Shicmuon. After seeing rood’s strength he was fascinated by him, and decided he would start chasing him. He went to every mission where blackie might be, after seeing him just once. 

After shicmuon met him again during the auction, even Van noticed he wasn’t being his usual self and said: “Shic’s gotten talkative. He’s too excited” (chapter 6). How can someone be so excited after meeting someone they only saw once before? Someone they barely know? I’ve always felt that shicmuon found in rood, someone who could understand him. That he could be himself in front of rood. Rood is the only person who is able to match his strength, and hence, he is the only person who doesn’t fear his powers and who treats him as a normal person.

I love how shicmuon and lanoste react each time rood or eperia are in danger. To be honest, I want shicmuon to learn about rood’s past (his past as rood sentia and also the demon king) and see how he reacts. Considering that lanoste didn’t like how eperia was treated as a living doll and how she was used by the tower, I imagine that if shicmuon ever learns about rood sentia being dead and about the demon king’s past, he will be furious. (I have a theory that the traitor isn’t only lispen, but someone else, who we have yet to see. Especially since the shadow seemed to have its own consciousness and wasn’t attached to lispen. Maybe that person tried to kill the king, forcing him to leave to the human world for a while.) That is to say, rood/the king suffered a lot, and shicmuon isn’t going to stay quiet once he learns that. I mean, he is already very pissed off.

In both cases, the tower is involved. Interestingly enough, rood and eperia are both living dolls. Another similarity, is that according to the tower, eperia and rood must die/suffer “for the sake of the empire”. And we still don’t know how eperia will die. We know that the tower plans to subdue the king/rood and chain him underground, but we don’t know what they did to eperia. Will they try to use her strength or will she die by trying to protect baby shicmuon? Regardless of what happens, the tower and the empire are responsible for her death, and now the tower and the empire are trying to catch rood (and basically, destroy his life, like with eperia).

I think lanoste is trying to help the king as a way to compensate he wasn’t able to save eperia. As for shicmuon, I wonder if he knows what happened to his mother? If he does, then it could explain, in part, why shicmuon wants to protect rood from the tower (and why he hates it so much).

Lanoste already compared shicmuon’s relationship with rood, to his with eperia (although indirectly):

We know now (thanks to lanoste’s flashback), that eperia used to chase him at the beginning, and that later lanoste will be the one chasing eperia. In this case, shicmuon is chasing blackie, the same way eperia once chased lanoste, and not only that, he is also protecting/reacting to rood’s being in danger, similarly to lanoste with eperia. There are a lot of similarities between those four characters (rood, eperia, lanoste, shicmuon) and their relationship, and I don’t think they are just coincidences. At least, I hope so.
