This comic sits in a very weird place in the continuity. New Mutants is over, but X-Force #1 hasn’t come out yet. You’d think this hip new team would make their debut in their own comic, but they don’t. The first time we see the team fully assembled is right here in this completely bananas New Mutants annual that focuses heavily on child violence. This story isn’t any worse than the other weird annual crossovers that came before this. The art is questionable, the writing is bonkers in a really bland way, and the chemistry between the characters is charmingly cringy.
