I'm really sorry to make a post like this, but I really need help.
I've been struggling with trauma related things these past two months, and while I keep working, I couldn't keep up with my usual rythm. That meant I had to take less work and earn less.
I am in urgent need of seeing a dentist and have been putting it off because I can't afford it, I'm chronically ill and a single parent, I do my best and most of what I earn goes towards making sure my child wants for nothing, but the pain is becoming unbearable.
If I really have to, I'll open more commission slots, but I'd really would rather not take on more work at this time.
I don't like asking for help or donations but any help would be incredibly appreciated. If you can't, sharing also helps.

Happy Friday, everyone! The "regular birds" calendars are now also available in my shop, and on sale for the coming days. There are several formats to choose from. (The 12 x 12 has a different Bluebird photo, the one from here did not work well.)

a friend of mine got accepted into nyu shangai but they don't have the financial capacity to pay for it. by helping him you would be helping queer poc representation. this is their story.
they deserve this so much honestly, he's a great student and here's his LinkedIn
So hereās the entire story for Caine -- Iām going to put this under the cut, because it might get long and I know people hate that.
On the 12th, after the initial discovery of the mass but before the date of surgery, we were worried about it being cancer. Vet told us if itās cancer, he wonāt have much time left - maybe a year. When we called her to ask more questions (we had a lot), she asked us to come in, theyād go ahead & xray his chest to see if it spread (if it had, it was cancer, and there would be no surgery). This was actually part of the estimate for the surgery itself - the follow up xray to see if it spread. Thankfully, it had not spread.Ā
To be safe, the vet prescribed a Japanese supplement that helps stop bleeding (no sign he was, but just to be safe). Gave it to him until this past weekend, when it gave him wild diarrhea, so the vet said to stop. He still had the diarrhea when he went in for surgery.
We took him in on Wednesday the 20th for his surgery. Dropped him off at 7:30 in the morning and I sobbedĀ in the car the whole ride home. They called us around 1pm to let us know that surgery was over, he was doing well, heād gone in and out of anesthesia just fine, didnāt get sick or anything. They removed the mass and his spleen, sutured his stomach to his side, and they overnighted the mass to a pathologist for examination (weāll know the results sometime next week, as to whether or not itās benign). They put him on antibiotics for the diarrhea, because he was still having the issue.Ā
Thursday, they said he had not yet eaten, and Thursday afternoon, they took him off the injection pain meds (so he could go back to oral medication again). We got to come in & see him after I got off work, and he looked so out of it. He looked exhausted, so he kind of just paced a little, and leaned against us. But when we were going to leave, he nearly threw himself at me because he didnāt want me to leave. Yep. Cried like a bitchĀ in the car.Ā
Today, they called around 9 this morning. Confirmed yep, we can come pick him up around noon. And no, he still hadnāt eaten, but they did say that was normal and he seemed nervous so heād eat probably once he got home and relaxed.Ā
So we picked him up at just before noon, and he was so goddamn happy to see us, I canāt even explain it, okay, holy shit, I was so excited to see him too.Ā
Hereās one of the big reasons Iām making this update.Ā
Here are the bills, from the Xray, and from the surgery (I only did the 1st page of the surgery). TheĀ āsubtotalā is the total.
The total amount for Caine just since the 12th is $3,625.17. Since it had to be paid before he could come home, I had to take out a CareCredit card.Ā
I would never ask you guys for the full amount (though if there is anyone out there with that kind of money to spare, I would literally love you for the rest of my life & would spend the rest of my life figuring out how to thank you). Iām just looking for help to pay it off. The money isnāt for me, itās never for me, itās for him. Iām still struggling to pay off my other debts, things I havenāt been able to really get my claws into since I was out of work three fucking years ago. Just when I see the top, I get yanked back under (dental problems, health problems, car issues, etc). ThoseĀ things Iām working at paying off on my own.Ā
This is the only thing Iām asking for help with.Ā
Iāve updated my Ko-Fi goal - it used to be shown with the top of the estimate listed as the goal, but since the real amount was actually less than the lower estimate, Iāve updated it. Iāve even dropped it to just $3,200. Iām really desperate. I need help.Ā
Anything you can give for him, I would appreciate it to the end of the Earth. He would appreciate it too. Once heās healed up, heāll be able to run and play and do the things that he really hasnāt done in a while.Ā
Here is my Ko-Fi. Even if you canāt afford to donate, please share this. Everything helps, and I canāt even begin to explain how much help I need. Honestly, Iām surprised Iām even making sense right now.Ā
Thank you.
And, as always, Iām happy to make you a video, or a photo manip, if you want it in exchange for donating (I genuinely donāt mind, but I donāt know what people want or like). Just send me a message and talk to me about it, Iām happy to figure something out. :)Ā

My daughter, Jill, initially saw a doctor with symptoms of hearing loss, memory loss, and numbness of the tongue on the left side. The doctor ordered a CT scan which was denied by insurance. On June 18th, 2015, when Jill was driving home, her face felt numb on the left side prompting her to visit...
Hey guys, Iām a little bit embarrassed to post this but I donāt really have a choice.
My mom recently had a brain tumor called an āAcoustic Neuromaā removed and we donāt have money to support the medical bills for the surgery. We can barely get by as it is.Ā
Itās gotten to the point where we donāt eat some days because we simply just donāt have the money. We live in extremely cramped mobile home that is falling apart. Its dangerous, unhealthy, and genuinely upsetting.Ā
Anything really does help, even if you just share. It means the world to us.
Iāve also posted this on Twitter, retweets help too!Ā
HOW TO OPEN STUDIO #27: Connect Your Audience With Other Artists!
I only show four cards because others were already gone!
Last year, for our Sonoma County Art Trails open studio event, a fellow artist near me reached out with a terrific idea:
She suggested everyone in our area (about 5-7 people) bring their postcards (with all our contact information, etc.) to our exhibit at the Sebastopol Center for the Artsā¦.
And share them with each other!
It was brilliant!ā¦
