Another reason we struggle finding good jobs is because people would rather like us on a personal level than for us to be the best at our jobs as long as we are nice people and easy to get along with in general. It’s not enough. Higher ups have to personally like us to want to hire us or give us a promotion
(This is especially true for people who are neurodivergent who may even be better for the job than every other candidate, but because they’re socially awkward they won’t be chosen over someone who is more likable with less credentials… it’s so obvious when clearly incompetent people become managers… in many ways, it is a subtle form of discrimination against people who are ND…)
