For your next grilling party you might want to offer a couple options for cocktails and you know beer is pretty much synonymous with grilling. But, hey let's shake that up and add a touch of SUMMER! An easy way to do that is to make a shandy.
Shan·dy
noun
1. a mixture of beer and lemonade
2. shandygaff
Origin 1885-90; short for shandygaff, chiefly British
As you can see from the definition, you will need lemonade and beer. I recommend a wheat beer as it will yield the best results, I believe!
I would also recommend that you use a lemonade that is pure lemonade. By that I mean, the ingredients are water, lemon, and sugar - no high fructose corn syrup or other things you can't pronounce. The beer I chose because its regional and the helpful grocery clerk recommended it and he looked like he knew what he was talking about, oh, and it fit my requirements: wheat beer!
When you are mixing this simple drink put in about a 1/3 lemonade to 2/3 beer. You can adjust it to your liking, but that is what seems to taste the best to me. Viola! Here is what you get!:
It is absolutely delicious and gets you in the mood for summer time! Yea, yea, I know there are beers out there already sold like this, but I promise you it's not as good. You can take whatever blonde/wheat beer you like and add as much lemonade as you like and I guarantee you will like it a heck of a lot more than that other stuff. Please, try it out!
Enjoy your summer grilling and drinking a shandy or two!
