I finished A Reaper at the Gates!
If you haven't already read this series yet, I highly highly recommend it.
And completely forgot to post updates because I was completely absorbed in reading it. It was so good. Easily one of the best I've read this year so far.
This book was definitely very plot-focused, compared to Torch, which was more about the characters. Which does not mean the characters and their developments weren't a focus, because holy hell did all of them suffer in this. The characters (Elias and Helene especially) were put through many situations and they had to make a lot of difficult choices. This book alsso did a very good job with grey-area of morality. It humanized the villians, and sometimes made me question our protagonists. Though I want the Nightbringer to fail and not destroy humans, but sometimes I almost wanted him to win.
I liked how this book ended (mostly). But now I absolutely cannot wait for book 4! (wish I can also get more of Musa in the next book just saying).
P.S. I'm shipping Elaia and Helvitas. I just know they're gonna be canon at the end. Looking at you @sabaatahir
P.P.S. Helene continues to be my fav. Go Queen! (And have a great amount of extra appreciation for Livia and Avitas.)
P.P.S. Also please tell me Elias is gonna be okay.

Shaeva: Elias! You almost hit Nightbringer in the face.
Elias: I know. I missed
Elias: no, Shaeva! There must be a way to bring me back!
Shaeva: what part of Rest in Peace donβt you understand?

Shaeva: The forest of dusk is haunted. No one goes in, and no one comes out.
Elias: That makes sense if no one goes in.
Shaeva: what? Laia? Elias? Together?
Shaeva:...
Shaeva: this is the plan?
Shaeva: ARE YOU CRAZY? THIS WILL NEVER WORK! Oh, Izzi, you've been up there too long your head is in the clouds!
Izzi: *makes wind blow hard*
Shaeva: okay, okay, okay, OKAY, ALRIGHT, OKAY!
Shaeva: I don't think this is going to work, but I trust you.
Elias: many years ago, I lost my friend shaeva at the hands of the nightbringer
Shaeva (from the other tree): QUIT TELLING THEM I'M DEAD!
Elias: sometimes I can still hear her voice
