This is a totally in good faith question, I SWEAR: I'm curious how MaehdrosxFingon is such a universally loved ship (that part I get) when they're cousins, and that's specifically called out as no good for Maeglin and Idril? Is the general consensus, "It's okay because it's cute?" Swear I'm honestly just curious, I think it's a nice ship, I'm just textually confused.

The TL;DR version is that JRRT contradicts himself in various versions of the text re: cousin incest, and that the narrative is very much biased against Maeglin in a way it isn’t, really, for Maedhros and Fingon. Also, Russingon is subtext; Maeglin and Idril is just straight up text - that means we have more “cut and dry” answers on the latter.
I think the “general consensus” is more that Idril didn’t like Maeglin back, where Maedhros and Fingon seem very much in love - or at least, that’s how I see it.

For a variety of reasons, I've been thinking about how we use shame on an individual level to control others, be it parents and teachers to children, managers and coworkers to other coworkers, etc., and how that might be effective in the immediate but greatly detrimental in the long-term. Have you had to help clients battle shame as a therapist, and how have you wrestled with it in your own life? (Sorry for the heavy ask, hope it makes sense!)
Have you read much Brené Brown? That is her WHOLE THING. Most of what I know about shame, I know from her. Pretty much any reply about this would be regurgitated Brené Brown. Her concepts about how to approach shame–namely, facing it head-on with integrity, connection, and a sense of worthiness–fundamentally shape a lot of how I conduct my life, especially on the internet in Our Year of Cringe 2020.
And I am… super due for a re-read of The Gifts of Imperfection.

but for real though i actually liked the first 2 seasons of that show, and i actually like quite a bit of dr who, and ive seen a lot of supernatural (as boring as it was) but like who wants to be a superwholock, not I. Stayed out of that mess.

What happened?!?
In the final issue of Inhumans vs X-Men, the writers turned Emma Frost into a full-fledged villain. Instead of merely attempting to eradicate the last Terrigen cloud that was killing mutants, she launched an all-out genocidal assault on the Inhumans and tried to kill them with reprogrammed sentinels. She did this, seemingly, because she could not get over Scott Summers’ death.
Many people were unsatisfied with this conclusion, feeling that genocidal mania and an inability to get over an ex-boyfriend were a) out of character for Emma and b) horrendously sexist.
