Though it was still winter and the air chilled the tips of their noses until they turned red, Avi still propped up his toddler onto his shoulders was they walked down the pier, watching the waves lapping against buoys and ferries off in the distance, coming and going as Mila pointed them out excitedly. Working from home gave him a new appreciation for being outside, even in temperatures that felt colder than they were when all he could think about was the cozy fireplace in his home and the way it warmed the entire house. A tiny chin settled on top of his head as he heard Mila echo his oh hey in the direction of the person near them. "Looks like you had the same idea we did."

A sip of a dark IPA hit Dina's throat, the warm tickle flowing down to her gut. Whenever Dina was not behind her anchor desk, you could almost always find her sitting in front of a bar top, salted peanuts on the counter, dimmed lights and televisions with games scattered around. In this familiar setting, Dina felt free to be herself while she cheered on her favorite sports teams. Tonight, she was rooting for the Kraken as they played against the Bruins. "Oh, come on! That was a total penalty," she shouted out loud when one of the ref's ignored Brad Marchand tripping Brandon Tanev. She shook her head as she looked over at the closest person to her, "what do you think? Do you think the Kraken should've gotten a power play?"

It wasn't often she carried her work out of the office, both for the sake of keeping her mind straight and for that of privacy, but this was different. Her boss, as much of an asshole as he could be, had dropped off an information pack full of details in one's route to becoming a paralegal. You're more than a secretary, he'd told her, but truth was, she'd already known that. The four person table she'd managed to steal upon a group of college students leaving was far too much space for her to sit solo. So, when she caught the eye of another looking towards the empty seat across her from, she folded over the packet in front of her and cleared her throat. "You can sit," she offered, gaze dropping to the free chair. "If you want. I don't need this whole table to myself. It was just the only thing I could find, so feel free. If you want it, it's yours."
