While Atieno did have their elusive moments, they didn’t mind trying to explain. Attempting to be more clear about their statements feels like the bare minimum of what they could do. Sure one could say that the entity didn’t really owe anyone a particular explanation. And some circumstances that approach was justified... it didn’t feel fair here.

No, they were still getting a sense for this android, trying to place experiences in context. So that kind of specificity feels like an obligation they owe it to him to give.

𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙤𝙚, no longer accepting.

❛  tell me ...  ❜  words are muttered, his mind delving into his own thoughts, arm wrapped around and gloved hand settles on the small of his back, fingers feeling all the ridges, cool surface. enticing. the other goes to reach, grasp the thing that overs over them. a lovely little thing of mistletoe, branches bound together by a red ribbon, elegantly tied into a bow. jade hues peer down, between their faces, the bundle of green.  ❛  does this mean anything to you?  ❜  a question, proposed, but he does not expect an answer — though, a response to such would intrigue him. tradition, carried over a multitude of years. they held meaning to him, but over the course of his life, those definitions had become sour.  ❛  it used to mean nothing to me, but now, my feelings over this little thing ... well, they’ve changed.  ❜  promptly put away into a pocket in his suit jacket, his undivided attention is now placed upon him.

OR-10N's response is enough to inspire a small smile from them. Despite having the reluctance to say what they had been thinking, he had always been a good listener. Good in ways that they couldn't help appreciate. Maybe that was why they wanted to keep returning to see him, to meet him. That and other things they liked to consider in quieter moments alone.

Still they turn their gaze from the horizon back to OR-10N himself, studying the build of the dark android and his movements.

"You know. I feel like I've definitely had my moments of slipping from reality over the years. I can't even say otherwise.." That would be a lie.

And while Atieno isn't exactly above such things, it's not necessary. Not now. Not with him at the very least.

Something about OR-10N's matter of fact statement is something that they respect and feel a certain comfort in. It's easier to take in the things he says so straight-forwardly.

"Not sure what having a mind, being so intact means for me...." Not when they dissipate, disappear so suddenly and easily - matching the darkness that they embody in the night sky.

The festivities during this time of year was always interesting for Atieno to observe. The details of the decorations, the associated with different traditions and backgrounds all seeming to bump up against each other was fascinating. Atieno had found themselves just wandering about - checking out different occasions as the situation called for it.

So it was now while out and about around Orion that they were marveling over some of the things that had never really made sense. Some of the things they had learned about through talking to different mortals over the years. But one small aspect they had found to be a bit odd.

not often does the true face of mirage show, skull mask quickly removed from his head and tucked away into his suit jacket. these are things he hates, the very little things that seem to be forgotten, and soon become a disruptive issue. a growl, sourced from his frustration — and from a deep thought of how he could swing things in his favour, just like he had been doing since he could remember. he turns, eyes catch that of ... orion. he remembers, that short mist of stress preventing him from recalling why he was here. an important asset of the execution of an enemy mirage desperately desires to see dead. to ruin him into nothing. a hand, reaches without a moment’s hesitation before closing the distance and all that’s left is the criminal charm of illusione’s leader. he could almost chuckle at this circumstance, and it slips past his lips as they inch closer by the second but before he seals his action — he can’t help but mark his words first.

❛  hm, this is very much unexpected.  ❜  tone of frustration, but he does not let that hinder his focus. hot once did the trickster stop moving, stuffing things into his black duffle bag, abundant and filled to the brim with knowledge that was left carelessly for the taken. he would not let this victory be taken from him so easily. pulling back the sleek, jet black sleeve of his suit jacket, he watches the seconds tick by, golden arms of the watch moving rhythmically. still on schedule. it proves to be a challenge not to focus on the blaring sirens approaching — mirage was not a perfect man, he was human after all, but that didn’t mean failure was something he was willing to accept so easily.

❛  come now, this isn’t over yet.  ❜  hands clasp his beloved weapon, magazine loaded and ready, cool metal structures oozing through his gloves. a marksman’s focus, he was no stranger to a stand off against multiple. a survivor after all these years — he still yearns for the sound of ringing bullets, and the splatter of crimson, much like the first time he killed. he turns towards his ... what could he even call him? ally? partner in crime? ah, no time to think about such things. there were more things to think about than some pathetic title.

Looking without looking. That’s what his brother had called it, once. Okaal was a study in subtly, the prince not so much. In his defense, he was pretty sure these androids had seen him before he’d seen them, so he could only so much in the way of hiding.

For a moment, he just stared. From their appearance alone, he could tell the purpose of these droids was military and not the typical, faux-skinned human facsimiles he was used to seeing.
