atieno is incredibly old when it comes down to it so there might be some like weird like existential things that they carry with them. like when it comes to being around nature, they might be a little bit cautious about development and how it's happening.
of course, if it's already a place.. where it's established, that's not making them an anti-civ necessarily.
but they do wonder about what things might be like if more beings didn't really.. 'develop' in a way that demanded more and more out of the resources around them.
of course, that's not even the case for all planets because there are those places who are living more intune with what came before and they admire those places quite a bit. and they do find themself at least somewhat interested in some of the unique creations that do come out of what gets called innovation.
but atieno tends to really think about if it's done in a way that actually reflects interaction and more well-being even for the sake of survival, or is it... more out of what already is benefiting selected groups.
also i do think they have a weakspot i guess for the ways stories could be used to explain certain phenomenon in a way that wasn't necessarily literal but still placed some deep understanding of what happened within one's worldview. i think they do have an appreciation for those kinds of interpretations still.
tarsals. what past mistakes stick with them with every step they take
atieno does find themself fairly haunted by some of the memories that they have.
some of the first times that they found themself recognizing the sheer scale of the kind of destruction they are liable to cause with their adjustments.
actually seeing the scale of the influence they had and actually remembering the devastation they had caused by doing things.. without more knowledge of what they are capable of and what that meant - that has stuck with them for a very long time.
leaving them to be a lot more prudent, a lot more cautious when it comes to wielding some of the power that they know that they have.
to be able to alter atmospheres, ecosystems, to be the cause of the end of civilizations in many ways - it's not something that they should or could be so .. trivial about.
and so they have these incidents, where they set things in motion by accident, or as a result not having all the information they needed to make a more prudent or subtle adjustment and the impact of that is.. permanent. they might be able to stem some of the damage but not enough to undo what they are capable of doing.
atieno had been just taking some time to visit a few old friends. there were moments where catching up with those still around after a good amount of time was a useful thing for the entity to do.
it's good to have those situations where they can connect on what was seen and cherish the amount of time that they have left with certain individuals.
because although they might know some longer-lived beings, often their time is still but a blink in context for what they had known and experienced over their existence. so they do try not to take anything for granted.

Their power was greatly admired by the King and patrons, even causing their whole rave to shift moods entirely. Those who were frolicking came to a complete standstill, gazing at the very glamorous sight; it was almost as if the Gamble Galaxy was directly above their noggins, beaming down at them.
It was enough to silence the boisterous King, where the astral projection tranquilised him rather calmly. As he watched the display, their voice distracted his own trance.
"Huuhhh? Aw, a lil' Dede-demo? Call that there 'un? I wanna see how ya'd do in m'castle?! I can get endless sleep with stars projectin' 'cross tha ceiling!! Hey, s'pose y'can do a light show 'cross tha sky better than m'dozy drones?"
The King managed to grab ahold of the bartender's attention by loudening his tone. "YOOOO TUH GLASSES O' WHISPY WINE ON THA DOUBLE FOR M'NEW PLANET PROJECTIN' PAL!!"
One of his arms eagerly wrapped around the newcomer's back, bringing their body across Dedede's; he was giving this new face an overly-friendly side-hug, while one of his arms outstretched excitedly to wave at the barkeep.
Something about knowing that they could have such an effect among a grand gathering like this brought back some memories for Atieno. They had visited many a civilization in their existence. And while they didn't tend to .. show off much, little shows of something or another often did have the impact of getting a bit of favor. Allowing for a nice restful place for when they wanted to be in the company of somewhere or someone for a little while among their travels.
For now, they were just paying attention to the way that the King had been so in awe of their display.
They chuckled at the notion of a Dede-demo. "Heh, you could say it was something like that. I.. yeah, I imagine that I could be able to do it in your castle. Of course, it would be available while I'm here but.. "
They shrugged, not minding the option of doing that every so often.
"I probably could do a pretty pretty good light show based on what I had learned how to do over the years. "
And now they were suddenly pulled in for a pretty intense side-hug from the King, something that left Atieno feeling a little ungainly and awkward at the moment. But they were certainly looking forward to that drink - that might taste pretty good.
although atieno was certainly used to laying low in between errands and their own activities within the universe, sometimes they did have a way of casually popping up here and there just for the sake of doing so.
it was when they did so that running into carletta made them feel .. almost a bit sheepish? that was probably not the exact wording that they would use to explore this feeling.
they are tapping their black boots and keeping their hands in the pockets of their black jeans for a moment.
"i mean, i have a way of coming and going when i need to and want to. been that way for a while for me. what brings you around though?"

there's something to be said about having that line of reassurance. they know that working on finding different items can be tricky and frustrating even under the best of circumstances.
so even while having a bit of a breather from their latest venture, atieno had found themself a little cautious around ahmya, espcially with the expression that she generally had.
but the statement, the clarification had the entity nodding a little bit in response.
"good to know, good to know. i ... default expressions. i get how they may cause more feeling in others than you even intend to in the first place."

Lately things hadn't been going too well for Orion. Though the ending of his first year teaching at the grade school had been a wonderful success, it was now summer and with it came a break from the routine that Orion had established. This left him with far too much time to let his mind wander to another galaxy.
Being here in this garden, exploring a few ideas for future classes, helped get his mind better focused. The only problem was, the increasing humidity meant that a storm was on the horizon. Orion paid it no mind though as he was lost in thought, until a louder rumble grabbed his attention quicker than the one who almost ran into him.
"Yeah, sounds like a storm is rolling in, nothing unusual," said Orion with a gentle smile that he was accustomed to using to reassure his own students.
Then his brows furrowed and he walked briskly around a few of the hedges to get a good look at the clouds. His eyebrows arched in surprise, "Oh... yeah, that's, that's not good. A storm this early in the season is usually awful. I'd say it'll be on us in about twenty minutes, or less."
Although Atieno was used to changing temperatures and dealing with the complications that could come from all that, that didn't mean they didn't have a little bit of a weird feeling about being caught up in a storm.
Perhaps they were just feeling a little self-conscious about having been so focused on accomplishing something that the time was slipping away from them faster than they usually would have noticed.
When Orion noted that the storm was coming in - but nothing unusual, at first that was a bit of a relief. Only for him to follow up after getting a better look at the clouds.
"Oh. I see. Do you have any idea about how bad this storm will possibly be? And how long it's going to be around for?"
There was always something about doing some exploring on a planet that tended to bring out a certain kind of determination and focus from Atieno. Even if it was a place they had previously visited, they wanted to tread lightly and carefully to make sure they would find what they were looking for.
Besides, they had to keep an eye out for anything that might have suddenly changed.. and all the constant surprises that come with being in any given location. For now, Atieno continued to walk through the .. outdoor area with some overgrown flora of all different colors present.
Under different circumstances they would spend more time marveling on the environment, but they had been looking for something.. and as they continued to step - they heard the sounds of a storm starting to roll in.
It's only stopping that they nearly walked right into someone one..
"Ah, ah.. hey. I. uh.. you hear that?" They were a little on guard because of the sudden presence and the stronger and stronger potential of a storm starting to come in.

It made sense that Atieno would need to add some additional force, but it seemed like they had been used to such weird situations for a while.
"Ah .. only human? Alright. He seems like a pretty ... intense one to have gotten into this situation in the first place. I've got the time to wait it out. "
Because what else they were going to do?
They tsk a little bit adjusting some before continuing to apply pressure.
"Yeah I think the odds of the raccoon getting away.. is better than the facilities remaining preserved. The noises alone seemed to imply a lot of destruction happening.
