Good morning! I had a quick wanikani review, that is why apologies for my handwriting lmao. Still trying to maximize my time before I start to work! My daily work schedule is kind of dreadful because my work starts at 9am up to 6pm 😬 and then still thinking abt how or if I can still manage to study at around 7pm, because I usually be taking a power nap at around 6:30 ~9pm (this is not a power nap haha).
Current progress: I must say, I am getting quick at writing, but still slow at reading a full sentences (with kanji of course), but as for a full hiragana, still 50:50), then for katakana, it's like 20% ugh, baby steps, baby steps!
So yeah, lezzdothis! Have a good day ahead everyone! ✨

Hej! I've been studying Danish by myself for a while (it's been almost years actually), but since danish is not popular in my country, there isn't much sources or classes i can benefit or go, so i can't improve my danish. I can only use simple sentences& certain daily words :(( i was hoping maybe you could recommend me several sources i can use, y'know grammar books etc. (Btw I LOVE your blog! honestly, it helps a lot💕)
Hejsa! I’m glad you like the blog and good job for sticking around to learn Danish for so long! I agree that there is a lack of Danish language learning resources (especially for those who self-study). I can provide you with some resources that I know of but I can’t tell whether they are actually good or not since, as a native, I haven’t been using any of these resources actively. Here’s what I could find:
danishclass101 (website and youtube channel)
Danish Tutor: Grammar and Vocabulary Workbook (book)
Complete Danish Beginner to Intermediate Course (book)
Shortcut to Danish (book)
HelloTalk (app through which you can talk to natives of the language you learn and exchange knowledge)
In any case, I have several lessons planned for this blog which is hopefully going to help you construct your own (and more advanced) sentences! I will be posting a new lesson every week.
On a side note, what also helps me self-studying languages is communities that is centered around learning a specific language (e.g. Japanese). Hopefully, one day, as this blog grows, a community centered around learning Danish will be formed. That way, students can help and motivate each other!

N2 Grammar: ~に過ぎない (Quote 3)
にすぎない - nothing more than, merely
Quick reminder of lower leven grammar structures with this word:
N5: ~すぎる - too much of something This construction can be used with adjectives and verbs to express that something is or was done too much. For example: 高すぎる (たかすぎる) - something is too expensive 使いすぎる (つかいすぎる) - something is used too much
N4: 過ぎる - to pass/ to go past This a simple noun and is etremely often used with the passing of time. For example: 時間が早く過ぎた。(じかんがはやくすぎた) - Time has quickly passed. But it can also be added to other nouns that indicate movement to express that something or someone has gone past something. For example: 走り過ぎる (はしりすぎる) - to run past
So, now that we have this out of the way let’s look at the phrase in the last quote I posted (quote 3, you can look up the entire quote on my blog by simply looking “quote 3″ in the search bar). Here the sentence is: 人間はその中の一本の繊維にすぎない
First of all 繊維 is read as せんい and means fiber (I thought of it as a useless word when I first encoutered it at University but it comes up more often than I thought).
Now, if you have understood the previous N4 contrsuction this is a seriously easy N2 piece of grammar to learn as you would use it exactly the way you would in English. Literally translated it means: “A human being does not go beyond (being) a single fiber withing this (this = life)”. To translate it more neatly the translation “A human being is nothing more than a single fiber within this”
So how do you use it? Super simple:
Noun + に過ぎない
Verb (plain form, past or present) + に過ぎない
Let’s add a quick example sentence wor the construction with the verb 日本語を勉強したが、自己紹介できるにすぎない。(I have studied Japanese but I can do nothing more than a self-introduction)
Japanese people also love to use に過ぎない with percentages just like in the following example: 日本語を勉強した割合は6%にすぎない。(The percentage of people that have studied Japanese is not more than 6%.
You can also use it with adjectives but I have never actually heard it this way and resources say that it’s rarely used as well.
If you want to add emphasis, it is possible to add だけ before に過ぎない, which would translate somewhere along the lines of “nothing more than merely”. But I don’t think that the だけ has to be translated unless you have a super picky teacher.
Finally Starting
For a couple years now, I've wanted to learn Japanese, with the hope that after highschool, I would be able to move to Japan and live comfortably. My plans have changed a bit. The goal is no longer just Japanese, but Chinese and Korean as well. I hope to be fluent by the end of my senior year in highschool, so I can take the Biliteracy test for Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Just recently I ordered the necessary textbooks to begin the learning process. I have nine notebooks. Each language had three: two composition notebooks and one regular notebook. One composition notebook will be for vocabulary and the other, grammar. The lone regular notebook will be for writing and practicing characters. My study schedule is the following chart:
The other section refers to watching a TV show or listening to a song that correspond with the language or playing a children's game in the language.
If you have any questions pertaining to my study routine, my textbooks or anything relevant, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to give you the most helpful answer. Thankyou.
