Are Millennials Killing the Burglary Industry?
Millenials have potentially added to their industry kill count recently, now taking the burglary industry. “I never thought this day would come,” said 60 year old burglar, John Jones, “But due to this newfangled corona virus and self-isolating it’s harder and harder to get away with.” Self-isolating is when and individual/group choose to stay away from society to prevent the spread of disease. This means more people are staying in their homes. This obviously makings breaking and entering without being caught much harder. Another low life we spoke to, Samuel Johnson, age 72, said that three of his friends had been caught last week and were all now facing a prison sentence or a serious fine. If this long running industry were to go hundreds of families would be at risk of losing their livelihoods.
However it’s not all doom and gloom. Many younger burglars are looking at it as an opportunity. Several young people we spoke to said that with everyone self-isolating they would be able to take on bigger targets, such as schools. Apparently technology from schools often does well in the vintage market. One young person we spoke to was Bob “Sneaky” Harrison, age 24, he said, “With many businesses empty this is a fantastic opportunity to break into the world of large scale heists. Many people, particularly older folk, see home burglary as the only easy option. Times are changing and if we can adapt the industry will be better than ever.”
Whether this is the end or a new beginning only time will tell; all we can do for now is hope that whatever happens, it turns out okay in the end.
