I love how in Ancillary Mercy we find out Seivarden’s actually like, an action movie hero. Like, leading a commando raid, getting tackled out of third-story windows and brushing it off, etc. We met her and she was just crying and throwing up on herself. Two books later and Ekalu’s like, ughhh she’s so beautiful and so good in bed!! And she’s jumping off a spaceship and infiltrating a station and threatening the lord of the Radch. But don’t worry! She’s still a loser: she calls Tisarwat “kiddo.”

Breq is so good at observation but also sometimes so utterly terrible at it. Breq voice "Mercy of Kalr said that it and Seivarden have a surprise for me so I went to my quarters. Rose petals were scattered on the floor and Seivarden was reclining on the bed with her tunic undone and a rose clenched between her teeth. I wonder what this could mean."

ok I’m rereading ancillary justice again and now I totally do get it. the reason breq is taking seivarden along really is because she sees herself in seivarden isnt it? like that and loneliness but probably internally she feels a lot like how seivarden acts and she relates to seivarden’s tragedy. she has no idea why she’s keeping seivarden just because the idea of “seeing yourself in someone” is completely alien to her, and would never even cross her mind, what with being a spaceship
