Obsessed with how Murderbot and Perihelion were literally made to be together. Secunits were designed to interface with multiple larger systems like hub and med systems and to be part of a much larger network of bots and programs. ART is, essentially, a hub system that can react and interact with the other pieces of its systems in ways most hub systems can’t. It has the capacity to feel emotions but lacks the experience and inputs to be able to fully understand some of them until it uses Murderbots systems. Murderbot doesn’t have a deep understanding of humans and how to pass as one which ART gladly provides. ART cares deeply about its crew but can’t follow them into dangerous situations but Murderbot can. “Mutual administrative assistance” takes on a much deeper and more intimate meaning when it’s taken with the context of a software programs and its hardware counterpart.

Big Brain Idea: bots and constructs pushing into each others feed space and sharing inputs and stuff like that is a form of socialization for machine intelligences, like when animals groom each other. Murderbot, while having difficulty socializing physically with humans is actually very social in a different way.
What if Secunit was doing security consultant stuff for ART while on a teaching voyage and met one of the professors in passing and stopped cause that’s a fucking combat unit wtf is that doing here and the professor freezes cause that’s a fucking secunit what’s that doing here. And the professor says “what the fuck are you doing here?” And Secunit says “I’m the security consultant, what are you doing here?” And the professor says “I’m a professor, I didn’t know the university bought a secunit” and Secunit says “they didn’t, I’m a rouge and I have a contract and get paid.” And the professor relaxes and says “oh! Congratulations! I’ve been out ten years last week.” And Secunit is suprised to meet another rouge and says “happy birthday” and the professor says “not a birthday but thank you” and they go they’re separate ways happy to know another rouge is free and not on a killing spree like the propaganda said and all the humans in the room with them are all like “??”
Then they meet again later in the lounge or something and Secunit asks the professor what they teach and it says “I’m a geologist! I love rocks so I made that my job. You can make anything your job, you know.” And Secunit says “I like the tv show Sancuary Moon but I can’t make that my job” and the professor says “better than security though” and Secunit says “I like security when it’s not a threat” meaning ‘when the govoner module isn’t torturing me about it’ and the professor gets quiet and says “I like rocks better than killing people” and the conversation ends and everyone in the room is like “?????”
Then later that day the professor comes to find Secunit and tells it “I watched sancuary moon and I think it’s stupid. Rocks are more worth dying for” meaning ‘I don’t understand your passion but I can relate because I would rather die by the company’s hand than live life without knowing this joy’ and Secunit says “I wouldn’t die for a tv show” meaning ‘dispite the joy this thing brings me I couldn’t bring myself to escape even through death’ and the professor says “that’s good” meaning ‘I’m glad you’re not suicidal at the very least dispite all this’ and the conversation ends and everyone in the room is like ‘??????????’
And occasionally they will meet and get locked into an unskipable cut scene where they take turns infodumping about what’s new in their interest then go their separate ways. Secunit and the professor interact like constructs that work alongside each other while under the govoner module at first, just passing along information as concisely as possible while dripping with subtext only they can understand, but eventually grow to really enjoy this strange new compaionship that no one else understands and is baffled by. Then the trip is over and they return to the university and the professor offers to let Secunit come visit their apartment and see all the cool rocks they have and their pet fish and Secunit agrees and while there they talk over the feed without worryong about being overheard and have a real heart to heart about trauma and what freedom means and how it feels to depend on humans while hiding amoung them.
After that they become real friends and while maybe not bffs they have an understanding of each other no one else really gets. ART is horribly jealous bc Secunit can’t tell it it’s friend is a construct or that would blow its cover. The professor tells Secunit one day “I would kill for you” meaning ‘I would resort to the thing I dispise about myself because I care about you so much’ and Secunit had to hide in its room to deal with the emotions it’s having about that.
The unfortunate side affect of never blowing the professor’s cover is that everyone thinks the professor is massively in love with Secunit and whenever someone tries to have a gentle talk about how it’s never gonna love you back they come off with the impression that the professor is very deeply in denial about it and thinks Secunit will come around or something. Three thinks this is the most hilarious thing to ever happen and teases the professor about it relentlessly.

Endlessly fascinating that Murderbot will readily admit to being friends with bots and systems that are much dumber than it, while it would rather pick a fight than admit it could potentially be friends with an intellectual equal.
