Hey there! 👋🏼
I figured that today would be the perfect time to explain what tarot is and a bit of the history behind it.
- Tarot is defined as any set of cards used in tarot games and in fortune telling. A standard deck of tarot cards has 78 cards and consists of two groups. The typical deck that tarot readers will start with is the Rider-Waite Smith deck. There is a story behind the traditional deck though that often goes untold. What happened was that in 1909, William Rider and Arthur Waite did not want to give credit to the illustrator of their deck named Pamela Smith, especially with her being a biracial, queer woman. It wasn’t until 1911, which was two years later that Rider and Waite re-released a copy of the Rider-Waite Smith deck to include Pamela. That just goes to show how prevalent discrimination was during that time. Way to go Pamela Smith for being an intersectional feminist!
- With that being said, let me discuss what the two groups that make up a tarot deck include:
• The Major Arcana, which has 22 cards, follows the Fool’s story in what is said to be “The Fool’s Journey”. The journey that the Fool takes symbolizes the steps we as humans take throughout our lives on the path to growth, evolution, and spiritual enlightenment.
• The Minor Arcana, the second group of tarot cards, comprises 56 cards and is divided into four suits of 14 cards. These suits consist of Wands (Clubs), Cups (Hearts), Swords (Spades), and Pentacles (Diamonds). Each set also has 4 court cards and 10 numbered cards. The numbered cards go from Ace – 10 for each suit in which numerology (the meaning of numbers) plays a part in their significance.

Why wouldn’t I get my period the first day of October? 🥀
October demands blood. 🎃🎃🎃
Baby Witch 🌙
After many years of being interested in becoming a witch and waiting til I was ready I finally thought to myself why wait any longer? It’s something I’ve always shown an interest in and been intrigued by. I love nature, animals, the stars, space, the moon, flowers, anything that has to do with nature as a whole. I have no religious beliefs nor do I worship any gods. I am fascinated with mythology though and the history of the world. I adore science and the mystery of how vast the universe is. Its been an interest all of my life. I don’t know any witches in real life just ones I’ve come across on here, and there are so many its wonderful! Lol. I know I won’t have anyone to talk to about it in my family or even friends which makes me kind of sad, but I’m a private person as is so it’s not so bad. I have talked to my wonderful husband about it and he says as long as I’m happy he supports whatever I love which has helped a lot in this decision. Having his support is priceless. I’ve been doing a ton of research on witchcraft and types of witches and the information is plentiful for sure lol. And overwhelming at times. But I’ve taken my time. There is even a nice small store only 5 minutes from my house that sells books and crystals and herbs which I visited many times out of sheer interest. So I’m happy to have more reason to go there to gather things. There seems to be so many kinds of witches that I have a hard time deciding where I may fall into. I see myself personally as a Secular Witch being that I have no religion or intend on practicing any types of religions. I do love the stars and the moon and space. And nature especially has always been something I love being in and experiencing. I love plants and flowers and I have recently decided to start tending to and raising a few plants and flowers this spring. I have some beautiful succulents I have inherited from my beautiful Grandmother. They are my plant babies. I refer to all plants and animals as babies lol. I love them all equally. Anyway. I just felt like sharing a small part of myself in hopes of maybe finding some new friends. Some witchy friends. It would be nice to feel like I belong with people who share a common love and interest with myself. I hope anyone who may come upon this has a wonderful day. 💖🌙
